The Ditty Box Thrift Shop — Local services in Wells

The Ditty Box is a great little thrift shop! Though the shop is in a relatively small space, there is a good selection of clothing and dishes in particular. There is a small games/puzzles section (one of my personal favorite thrifting categories!) and a fabric section with EXTREMELY reasonable prices for my fellow aspiring sewers out there! Another huge plus: they even have a Free section with a variety of odds and ends! I got a wireless mouse (which hopefully works) and a JFK portrait (which I intend to hang up somewhere confusing to mess with my fiance) in the free section on my visit today!

My favorite personal observation of this store is that they are incredibly generous with pricing; if an item has a preexisting tag on it they default to the lower of the tag prices, which is really nice. Even at Goodwill they'll charge you $5.00 for an item that clearly had a $0.50 price tag on it, so I really liked that they err on the side of caution when pricing items. The people who work there are also apparently all volunteers working with a local church (a "Congregational Church," no immediately recognizable denomination that I can tell; just wanted to add that for anyone whose decisions may be affected by that). Everything on the bag in my added photo only cost $12, and I got 3 books, a LOT of good quality fabric, a (hopefully functional) wireless mouse, a framed picture, a ship model kit with the building pieces still in sealed plastic, an embroidery kit, and a small sewing pattern! Feels crazy just typing it all out!
