We were very disappointed with our experience at the Beach Rose Inn last week. We originally booked the Inn for 4 nights but only stayed one and that was more than enough. I booked this location based on all the reviews that highlighted their cleanliness which was our top priority. The reasonable price for nightly stays and the reviews made us move forward with the booking but our experience was not anything that matched the reviews. We checked in after 6:00 so a key was waiting for us in the late check in mailbox. Everything worked fine on our end but a couple in the lobby was having difficulty and there is no one there to talk to in person after 6:00 should you need help or have a concern about your room. There is a phone number to call should this occur. The Inn is older which we expected and when we first entered the room it was extremely warm but doable. We unpacked and got settled and had some minor issues that evening. One was that none of our outlets worked properly, only the bottom plug worked which were all taken by the appliances in the room. We had to do some rearranging to charge our devices after the drive and did not have enough plugs to charge our phones so we took turns. Secondly, the bathroom floors were chipping and the curtain rod rusting. The white comforter had brown stains on it that looked like makeup and dirt remnants from previous guests. These are minor things but surprising based on the reviews. Lastly, that evening we came back to dinner to find a small baby cockroach in our room (my husband and I both worked in the restaurant business and are well aware of what cockroaches look like). Still, after these issues we did not have plans to move or even complain but that evening when we slept the air conditioning did not work properly. We were up most of the night and the room was extremely uncomfortable while the air conditioning unit continued to wake us up with loud noises throughout the night. The room was so warm we could not sleep under the covers and were up every hour or so and had to speak with someone the next morning. I believe our room was directly below an attic and had no window unit, just a small interior unit that was not keeping up with the warmth coming from above. When we spoke with the man at the desk he seemed very uninterested or concerned but said he would speak with the owner to see if they could get someone to look at it. After returning from our day about 6 hours later he told us it is Saturday and hard to get someone in to see the unit but he would give us a fan. The temperature was warmer and humid that day and we knew we did not want another nights sleep like the previous while we are trying to enjoy a few relaxing nights away. I am also 6 months pregnant and sleeping in that heat was no sleep at all. I understand things occur that are out of the Inn's control but his general lack of care, concern or shock made us feel this was not the first, nor the last time, this had been brought up to them. While we waited to address this issue with him, another guest was also speaking to him about the condition of their room and poor experience that unfortunately seemed far worse than ours. While staying there that evening it seemed obvious that the guests we had conversations with or overheard were not pleased either. We decided to move hotels and it was the best decision we made and saved our vacation. Throughout our interactions with the front desk the owner was never there to speak with directly but the man behind the desk kept saying he had to speak to the owner, I wish we could have spoken to her/him before we left. This was the poorest experience we have had staying at any inn, hotel or motel during our travels. We will not be back and I cannot...
Read moreOur stay was a nightmare to say the least. Before we arrived we received several calls from the hotel asking us to cancel our reservation through Expedia so they could save their fee. We declined because we wanted the insurance protection. They called several days during that time to try and convince us to do so, but we kept declining. We arrived late in the evening after making a reservation for a room with 2 beds for 4 people. We were 4 women and got there after midnight to find a night clerk down the road at another hotel. We stood outside for quite some time in the rain, and when he finally arrived he insisted we did not have a reservation for 4. He ran our reservataion directly through his hotel and not through the Expedia reservation, which counted as a no show in Expedia thus voiding out trip protection coverage. He then changed our roomm to a smaller room without our knowledge, and then after charging our card he informed us that our party would not fit in the room he had booked us in and insisted we needed 2 rooms. We asked for a refund, which he said he could not do, and then forced us to rent another room for an additin $200.00. Being that we had nowhere to go, we had no choice. Needless to say, Expedia was not happy and gave us a travel voucher. Not to mention the room was shotty with torn bedding, blankets that smelled like BO and water bugs on the walls. Our toilet backed up 9 times in 2 days and we had to plunge it ourselves. The lobby furniture is ripped and dirty, the floors are filthy and warped and the outside desk and siding is literally crumbling. We asked the manager to call to discuss the issue, but he never did and apparerntly, unbenounced to us, if you want maid service you have to ask. Totally disgusted and watch your pocketbook because they took advantage of women in a dangerous situation, which included 2...
Read moreThis is an okay place to stay for an overnight given many area places require a 2-night stay. It is clean. The beds are comfortable. The staff are very respectful. The air conditioner in room 208 was really nice. The TV service is adequate and the WiFi connection is fine.||||I reserved these rooms due to "balcony access." There is NO balcony access at this time (10/2022). The young man at the desk apologized and said they hope to have that back by next summer. The lower deck did look like it might have already been replaced so this may come to pass.||||The shower in 208 was hot and strong. The shower in 202 was a weak stream that didn't really get very hot. Curved shower curtains would really be a plus for an improvement!||||There are no alarm clocks. There are no USB ports.||||I was nice to be close enough to walk to Mike's Clam Shack (a great place to go for good food, great music and a nice atmosphere). It's an easy .5 mile walk from the Beach Rose Inn.||||Coffee in the morning is nice. You might want to have your own cream and sugar as they only offer the hotel packets with small sugars, powdered cream and low calorie sweetener. They offered fresh bananas and clementines the morning we were there. and there's an ice machine in the office.||||It was inexpensive comparing to nearby stays -and again they allow for only a one night stay.||||Clean and comfortable. ||||Not sure I'd stay again unless the balconies are opened. I'm hoping the new owners will offer our "Rose" the...
