The People who work at this Hotel are VERY Nice But.......
When looking on-line for a nice place to stay in West Palm Beach for a trip the week of July 6th, 2025, I chose the Courtyard by the West Palm Beach Airport. The pictures looked very nice, the pool inviting and the rooms acceptable. What I found was something quite different. I used points for my stay and paid far too many points for the condition of this property.
The Room (an upgrade due to my Marriott status) was next to an expressway, and it was necessary to run a sound app each evening to drown out the noise from trucks, cars and police sirens. When I said something to the front desk on day two of my five-day trip, in fairness, they offered to move me down the hall. I doubt it would have helped to be an additional 30 feet away from the expressway, so I stayed where I was rather than to pack and unpack my bags again. Here are some things that were wrong:
If you stay at this hotel, each time you log onto Netflix, Prime Video or other streaming services, when you power off the small 40-inch TV, it loses your Login credentials. In other words, you have to go through the laborious process of login each time you turn off the TV. The Manager said it's a choice they made despite the fact it is an inconvenience to its customers. Other Marriott properties don't do this that I have stayed at. In addition, on two separate occasions in a 5-day period, while watching Netflix, the TV suddenly powered down and I had to turn it back on and go thru the Login process all over again using the remote control. This is painful (if you have a long password) and totally unnecessary.
My internet Wi-Fi connection was severed twice during my stay and a technician sent to my room examined my Wi-Fi connection but didn't find any technical issues.
The Motel Parking Lot is NOT well lit at night, and I encountered homeless people hanging out on the street by the entryway to this Courtyard panhandling for money.
The carpeting is so old and disgusting that housekeeping/maintenance staff use a "Floral Spray or powder" on the carpeting in the hallways to mask the scent of what must only be an unfavorable smell in the dingy blue/grey carpeting. If you close your eyes and take a breath, you think you are in a flower shop with the strong fragrant smell of dying flowers.
Upon check-in, I opened my patio door to see the view (of the expressway), I noticed that my screen door had fallen off its tracks at some point prior to my unpacking and it was leaning up against the railing. (See Photograph)
On the side of my well used bed was an LED light and attached mirror. It was loose from its mounting bracket during my stay. If you push the button to turn on the light, the entire light fixtures moves. (See Attached Photo) I reported this and the patio screen to the front desk clerk at checkout in hopes of a repair so the next guest would not have to put up with these issues.
According to Crystal, the Manager, the Hotel will undergo a major renovation beginning sometime in August 2025. My suggestion to you is this, DO NOT STAY at this run-down hotel until it is up to Marriott standards. I am surprised that Marriott has allowed the investors who own the building to pocket profits and allow it to deteriorate to its current condition. This is a Marriott property for God's sake, not a Motel 6 (No Offense intended to Motel 6.) Shame on you Marriott. But, as I said, the employees are all very nice. That is the only redeeming quality at this...
Read moreThis hotel was a nightmare. When we showed up there were 3 cops cars from West Palm Beach and the cops weee sitting in the lobby. That itself was a little alarming. Check in was easy and the only good experience. When we went to the room the overall look was nice until you walked in. Due to COVID, we always Lysol everything. When spraying the bed we noticed the sheets were stained. I called room service to change it. The housekeeping manager came in very much annoyed and asking where the stain was. When we showed her she rolled her eyes and walked out. She sent in a person of her staff which came in to change the sheets with a child. The child was clinging to the sheets all the while she had no mask on and entered our room where we were in. She proceeded to help change the sheets with the housekeeping staff, still no mask on the entire time. The child at that point contaminated the room and others as she was working with the housekeeper since we checked in. When they left we continued to see the room and the sofa had a huge visible stain. The carpets were stained badly. The bathrooms are very outdated and oxidized. And the room reeks of humidity. After all of this we decided to stay else where. When I went to the front desk I advised we had only been there an hour but wanted to cancel the reservation. The lady said okay. I asked if I would be refunded and she advised yes. When I asked for a receipt then she proceeded to ask why we’re leaving. I explained everything above to which she answered “I don’t understand why the housekeeper working with her daughter is any of your concern” I then told her the child being there ironically isn’t the issue to me, it’s that this child is working with her parent at this hotel, touching and changing sheets all while not wearing a mask. Because this was done to my room and also when I was in the room and observed this then that’s why it did affect me. The front desk staff member then handed me a receipt. I thanked her and wished her a new year and she didn’t even respond. Terrible experience and definitely not the service I expect from a Marriott....
Read moreWith all the looks and feels of a 70’s era pay- by- the- hour motel, the Courtyard West Palm Beach Airport is a relic, in the worst possible way. Nestled in between the highway and other prime mugging opportunities, the only thing it was missing was Jack Nicholson with an ax.
The lobby resembled the décor off the many other Marriotts we have visited, but that is where the similarities ended. Our first room shocked us. There was mold creeping out from every fixture and switch plate. The toilet seat was only ½ attached. The framing in the bathroom was falling off. The nightstands were both missing facing. The dresser handles were covered in rust and the fridge was frozen over. It was a dump. We were in a hurry for a business commitment and only had a moment to run past the front desk to request a new room. The one representative said to the other “make sure to mark that room as dirty”. Dirty ?! This wasn’t a hair in the bathtub. This room should be put out of commission, and its misery.
Returning late in the evening, we found our second room to be a mirror of the first. It turns out this is the norm, not the exception. More mold, more broken furniture, with the addition of peeling wallpaper and cracked walls. The sheets were gritty and aromatic with fabric softener enveloped with the spirits of vomit past. A first for me, I pulled the sheets to check for bedbugs. Thank goodness, I found none. The beige Teledex tabletop telephone begged to tell the story of abandonment, as if this building was dropped in the ocean like the titanic left for decades then dredged back up like old milk that someone found, saying “Smell this, I don’t think it has gone bad yet. Do you?”
The next morning, we packed our goods and my boyfriend jokingly parting my hair “No lice” he said. “We survived”. And we headed down the road.
Marriott should be embarrassed to have their name on this building and should drop it back in the ocean...
