We travel to West Palm Beach about 12-14x a year for medical care for our youngest child. We always stay at the Hilton on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd, but at the last minute needed a room with two beds and unfortunately was unable to switch my room and had to rebook at a higher price, in a less than ideal location for our needs, at the Hampton Inn. I was under the impression I would at least get the same as far as cleanliness standards at a partnering hotel. I was wrong.
We arrived late around 10pm after driving over 9 hours that day. When parking, there was a group of men some shirtless with a pop up bbq in the parking lot and camp chairs cooking and drinking (ALL FINE TO DO) but was just a bit odd for a reputable hotel. That should’ve been my first clue. After checking in though we proceeded to our room and everything looked fine. We immediately proceeded to get our 6 year old in the bath and get our 3 year old ready for bed.
Our 3 year old was in double full leg casts as she is undergoing medical treatment in West Palm Beach with a local physician. The whole reason for our trip was to be at an early 8:15am appointment the next day for our 3 year old. She is only able to scoot around on the floor to get around right now while in casts. Which is why what we discovered is even that more disgusting.
We had our shoes on when entering the room and bringing all our things in. It was not until our 3 year old was in bed and our 6 year old was in the tub that I removed my shoes and just had socks on. I walked from the bathroom to get pajamas for my 6 year old when I stepped in a very large puddle on the carpet with both my sock feet. I assumed someone spilled something and investigated. I had white socks on and noticed they were yellow now from the wet substance on the floor. On further examination I smelled that it was urine. A very large wet area on the floor of urine.
My husband called and spoke with the front desk. Fully booked, nothing they could do to switch our room. They sent the maintenance worker, who was the only redeeming quality about the entire ordeal might I add. He was gentle, kind, and the only person who offered an apology. He offered to clean it but explained it would take a while and would be very loud. Aka kids can’t sleep, already very late, early medical appointment,… our hands were tied.
Eventually a bunch of blankets were brought up after I asked if they at least had a rug or something to cover it, so blankets were placed over the entire floor for the night. They never once offered to provide any compensation, or even an apology by the front desk for the ordeal. It was not a Coke spilled on the floor but bodily fluids of either a human or animal. Disgusting, unsanitary, and frankly unacceptable. We will not willingly choose to stay at a...
Read moreStayed here for two nights this past weekend and had an excellent stay. Here's the breakdown,
CHECKIN We arrived at 3:00 for our room and Brianne told us that our room wasn't quite ready yet and offered us complimentary bottles of water and radioed the cleaning staff to get a move on. Our room was ready shortly thereafter. The front desk staff member told us about the complimentary shuttle to CityPlace at 15 past each hour, as well as a suggesting Riviera Beach, which turned out to be wonderful.
HOTEL LOBBY Very elegant and comfy. Lots of room to hang out in a separate large room filled with soft couches and chairs. This is not your typical Hampton Inn.
ROOM It was huge, even a mini hardwood floored hallway between the large bathroom and bedroom. The king bed was very comfortable. The desk and chair was nice to sit at, as well as the mini couch with mini table. The TV and fridge worked perfectly. There was even a microwave. The furniture was all nicer during modern. Wifi worked flawlessly. Room 420 was quiet.
OTHER AMENITIES The complimentary breakfast that was managed by April was top notch. She is super friendly as well, saying hello each time we saw her. There was different cereals, tons of muffins, waffles, eggs, and fruit. 6-10am each day.
The pool was outdoors and in really good shape. It's in a comfortable setting away from the lobby.
The fitness room had two treadmills and a couple other machines. There were TVs in the equipment and one other on the wall. They left the remote out too. A water cooler was there with lots of towels.
STAFF These folks all work hard and go out of their way to say it's their pleasure to serve you, with a smile. This is the kind of professional service you wish every hotel had, and I can tell you after years of going to hundreds of them, you rarely encounter a whole team of positive staff like this--amazing. Management really seems to know what they're doing here by hiring the right kind of people to make your stay a most enjoyable one. Brianne giving us free passes to the hilarious CityPlace Improv comedy club and drink vouchers was such nice gesture.
LOCATION Right by the airport, but I never heard any planes flying overhead, and by major highways. Tons of parking that is near the lobby.
Needless to say, we would come back to stay at this place in a heartbeat, and will certainly be recommending this place to others staying in the...
Read moreI was able to find a fairly good deal price wise so we decided to give the hotel a try. We were thoroughly impressed! Check in was smooth and straight forward. Dejon was very kind and helpful. The only thing I was annoyed by was the $5/day parking fee. He tells me that the other hotels in the area charge $15+ so they are the lowest in the area. It also would be nice if the baggage carts were bigger. It would just help create fewer trips.
Our room had so much space! The shower had good pressure and had plenty of space as well. Our room had a desk, King bed (I think) and a couch with a pull out bed. The fridge could be better about getting colder though. There is plenty of neat storage space in the room and lots of outlets. They also had a QR code that would show the channel guide. I love that because most hotels no longer have a channel guide which stinks.
The gym was nice and also very spacious. Plenty of weights and there are 2 TVs in there. Plenty of complementary towels were available as well as a water dispenser. There is a laundry room on site, an outdoor pool and sitting area outside as well. Also, the lobby has snacks for purchase and a sizeable area for gathering or hanging out. Oh and the WiFi gave no issues during our stay.
Now, it's always important to evaluate hotel breakfast. I must say, the Maple Smoked sausage is easily top 5 of the best hotel breakfast food I've had. It was so good! The breakfast options were solid (waffles, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, etc) and the juice was not watered down. There are plenty of coffee options available as well as tea and hot chocolate. Plenty of seating is available as well. Kari, was very nice and pleasant to speak with. She helped get my day off to a good start. One suggestion, is to offer some yogurt and a larger variety of bagels.
One other thing that stood out during this trip we customer service. We called the front desk on our 1st night because we need to freeze some food but didn't have a freezer in the room. So the front desk said we could bring it to them and they would put it in there freezer. We took them up on that offer and they easily found it when we checked out. Their willingness to accommodate us was really appreciated.
This is a great hotel. I don't know if I would pay full price for it but I would definitely stay again for...
