Usually I stay in Livingston and drive down when visiting the park. This time I decided to stay in at The Antler Lodge hoping for a bit of a treat and less of a drive. You really are paying the price for the location only though. The hotel was average. The beds were extremely comfortable, but the free wifi was 0.20 Mbps and entirely unusable. We ended up going to Wonderland Cafe in town when we needed internet, so there is usable internet in the area. The walls are pretty thin, so my spouse was kept awake late at night just by people walking around in their rooms above us. Oh and none of the top plug ins on the outlets worked apparently? We didn't discover this until we could not figure out why my wheelchair was not recharging overnight. So I had very little battery for a day, and had to plug it in on the bottom plug to get a partial charge and finish the day. We stayed in an ADA room and it did have a wide entry door to the restroom, good grab bars, and a shower chair. However my wheelchair would not fit anywhere in the room except in the door and in the bathroom and to be parked under the coat rack to charge (very in the way) because the fridge/desk/tv stand was too close to the bed to allow passage. Also of note if you need to do a chair to bed transfer the bed is TALL. I mean I am 5'4" standing and it came to the top of my butt. I can stand and needed my husband on standby assist to safely get in and out of it. There is no way a single person in a wheelchair doing a seated transfer could manage that. The front doors have automatic opening buttons which is nice. The restaurant is on the second floor which is not accessible. Over all 5/10 accessibility. Could be better with...
Read moreDO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL! Their key card system does not work! I had to drag all of my luggage back down to the front desk five (5) time because their key card system does not work! This morning, I asked them to please fix my door only to return to find it still does not work! Stay at the Travel Lodge. I have stayed there for five years now and never experienced a problem. I will never stay at this sub-Quality Inn again! This is not an anonymous post - I am using my real name.
Here is a copy of the email the manager sent me today to defend themselves:
Dear Mr. Draney,
I think you made this key problem more than it is. We still have not had ANY problems with the key lock in the room you stayed in. There is nothing to fix. Maybe you should take some responsibility for part of the problem. It is ok for you to get defensive, write "horrendous" reviews, but the hotels seem to have to just "take it " and give discounts etc. for something that is not our problem/ fault. I would understand your "horrendous " review if your room was filthy dirty, or the bed broke or ceiling fell on you, or something "horrendous" like that !
It has been a long season and I'm tired of guests complaints for minor problems. We take responsibility for errors we make. We are human also, and sometimes make mistakes. If we made your keys wrong, it is our mistake. I'm sure you NEVER make a mistake since the key problem was all of OUR fault ! Keys do get de-magnetized from being next to cell phones or other items. Maybe that was the problem and not our front desk staff.
I hope the other hotel you stay at is as PERFECT as you ! Enjoy Yellowstone...
Read moreSlightly pricey hotel as you would expect so close to Yellowstone. We had 2 nights here. Checkin was reasonable although when asking about eating in the attached restauarant we were almost discouraged. The man on reception said it would be busy with locals as it was a Friday night and we were advised to come at a very early time we wanted a table. As we wanted a bit of relaxation time having arrived around 6pm we decided to eat elsewhere as luckily there was an excellent restaurant just over the road. The room was comfortable and clean and had all the usual amenities. I do (like many people) like the room to be cleaned if i am staying 2 nights and a note over the sink (in the bedroom) said it would be cleaned after only (I think 4 nights) UNLESS you asked before a certain time the next morning. I did ask and the lady on reception was very non committal and said it was full and they probably wouldn't have enough time. I didn't think this was a very satisfactory response. You pay a lot of money for 2 nights and in the old days your room would be automatically made up and refresshed after every night. As it was we came back from a day in Yellowstone and it had been done so it turned out OK. Ate at the restaurant over the road again the second night as we didn't want to risk going late downstairs and not getting a table. No breakfast available at the hotel (Place over road was great again - The yellowstone Mine ) but they do have free coffee in reception. A good place to stay but not quite as friendly as some I have...
