This is or appears to be a family run/managed property. I chose this property based on the price, the location's convenience to where I was working and reviews on this and other websites. I'm absolutely at a loss to understand how this place got the high ranking that it did. The photos shown are extremely well staged and hand picked. I'm not saying it was that bad, but certainly not worthy of the reviews that I saw beforehand. | The person I dealt with the most was very friendly and as the length of my business stay was subject to change, she worked with me to add or cancel days as needed. This was and is greatly appreciated. The times I spoke or dealt with other people at the desk, were much less successful. For some, English was not their 1st (and perhaps not 2nd) language, and at other times, the person manning the desk didn't appear to have the authority to make management decisions or understand what I was asking.| The property is located on an easily accessible lane near the freeway. It's convenient and quiet in terms of traffic. You can hear the highway traffic, but it didn't bother me. The hotel itself appears to be old or older and it has a very used and tired look about it. It stood in very stark contrast to the Holiday Inn Express, just across the street, but at or near twice the price. The Days Inn is close to a grocery store and any number of restaurants and fast food places. The bed was nice and the A/C was cold, which was the majority of what I needed for the purposes of my stay. There was a refrigerator, which functioned, but the freezer part was completely filled up and unusable with frost from never (I assume) having been defrosted. The bathtub while old, poorly caulked and in need of updating or replacement was serviceable. While I didn't time it exactly, it took upwards of 5 whole minutes to run through tepid water to get to hot water in the shower/tub. When it did come it was the temperature hot water should be. I was working 12 hour night shifts and sleeping days, so I worked out with the manager that I would let them know when I'd be out of my room early so they could clean my room at a time reasonable both for me and their cleaning schedule. I stayed there almost 2 weeks and had them clean my room 1 time, this revealed that there is a distinct insect problem, at least in the bathroom. They (not sure what they were, but not roaches) collected on the bathroom (not carpeted) floor between cleanings. | Regarding the "breakfast" served. At the front desk there is a list of the 10 or so items available so if you read it there shouldn't be any surprises. I didn't read it/see it until several days in. The only hot item was something they called an omelet. While I didn't try it, it appeared to be a from frozen item. The remaining items consisted of apples, instant oatmeal, bread and a toaster with jams, jellies, and peanut butter, dry cereal (2 kinds), milk, and orange juice. 1 man's opinion is that you best forget that they serve breakfast and be pleasantly surprised that they have anything than set an expectation and be disappointed.| I've tried to be as honest as I possibly can, so that you, the reader can make the most informed decision possible. Fair to the hotel and fair to the reader. I continued to stay here due to the flexibility, location and the reasonably budget friendly cost, at least compared to other places I saw. My wife would not have stayed here. Having said that, I was not overly happy with my choice, but neither did I see anything better at a same or lower...
Read moreFor the money, this is one of the best motels I've ever stayed in. In fact, you'll be hard pressed to find any other motel that offers as much for your dollar. It sits at the confluence of where the tolls take you to either Kansas City or Salina, in fact, the toll plaza sits next to the motel, so you'll hear the consistent noise of passing semi trucks, but it's a soft rumble that sounds like the thunder of a storm many miles away, and it didn't disturb my sleep at all....just something I felt the need to tell you. The motel boasts an outdoor hot tub, which was part of the reason I chose it, it's a rather tiny tub and only holds a max of about 4 people. There's NO elevator at all in this motel, but that didn't bother me, as I'm a strong guy and could easily carry my luggage up to the second floor, so If you can't handle stairs, be sure to reserve a first floor room. Every room boasts a fridge, microwave, a nice 40 inch Samsung flat tv, a sofa for kids to sleep on, and even 2 nice spare wool blankets that are folded inside the drawers in the dresser that the tv rests on. The sink is seperated outside of the bathroom, so If one person is inside the bathroom with door closed, another can still brush their teeth or comb their hair in the mirror. There's NO USB ports in the room, although there's free WIFI. There's a computer and printer in the lobby downstairs, next to the ice machine and vending. Kansas Star Casino is a short 12 minute drive away, and many great restaurants are within a short 3 minute drive of this motel. Like most any others motel these days, there's an electronic governor on the thermostat, but you can still make your room briskly cold or toasty warm without any problems. I would definitely stay here...
Read moreBED BUGS!! I checked in at 5/11/25. Scheduled for check out at 5/13/25 for 11AM. Upon waking up this morning we had discovered a moving bed bug on person this morning around 8AM, as we were sleeping around that time. We immediately jumped up, removed bed bug of person and went to front desk to inform front office of this issue with bed in motel room cup to show front desk staff, after waiting over 10minutes for front desk to acknowledge our arrival. The front desk assistant removed bed bug and said a refund would not be given. I then asked if there was any one available as I had video and photos of the said bed bug and roaches that had been seen crawling on the wall of said motel and on my person as well. The front desk lady became hostile when I had asked for a proper contact number to get ahold of someone in corporate. Per Judy she did not have to give me corporate number and said someone would eventually reach out. With me coming from out of state I politely asked for a proper contact number that would included upper management/ corporate number a proper email and a proper name as to who would contact me. Judy became extremely unpleasant and unprofessional and started blaming me as the customer as if I was in the wrong. Judy chose to argue with me instead of give me the proper information. Judy did not give me a cooperates number instead she gave me the motel number.I had to google search and locate a number to inform them of the incident that had occurred.
Breaks fast had expired milk from 5/5/25. Extremely run down, improperly cleaned room and rude staff. There are 3 other motels/hotels in that area. Please...
