Barcelona Motel — Hotel in Wildwood Crest

I absolutely don't like to write a negative review and looking at all the positive reviews I have to wonder where they stayed. Obviously our room was not the same as theirs. After checking in I looked at their website and definitely our room did not match any of the photos. I have to say on the positive side that there were always clean towels (although rough and tread bare) and clean linens. My first order of business when we got to our room was to go out and buy some sani wipes and paper towels. I did not consider this place clean. It is in definite need of an update especially as far as the carpet is concerned. If you have a room with a kitchenette you will need to purchase coffee filters, and coffee if you plan on having coffee. There is a small refrigerator, microwave and electric burners should you choose to cook. they do provide a clean drying towel, sponge and detergent. For me, I could not believe the dust on the refrigerator. I have to say another positive was that we didn't have to use the AC as the breeze from the ocean was great. Our bedroom had a view of the ocean and to listen to the ocean at night was marvelous. I really believe this type of hotel is for a younger set who is going to spend a lot of time at the beach and only use the room to sleep and shower. For us elderly folks it's a difficult climb up some uneven steps to the second floor. Anyway, it was good for a 3 night stay. Would I return to this hotel? NO. One more note is that the ice machine is very old so it concerned me to use the ice although it had filtered water, the machine itself...

Family owned motel which was a plus in my books. Friendly environment. The beach is a very, very small walk, the motel is literally a baseball throw away. There was a kitchen fully equipped but we only needed one night so we ordered from a local pizza place for dinner. There was enough room literally three different size bed (it was just me and my husband) there was a daybed in one room with a kitten table with four chairs and a TV. There is a door that sperated another room with a twin and a full size bed with also a TV. The rooms were clean and equipped with necessities. There's a pool for the guest. Listen I got really lucky on Friday my husband just looked so tired and defeated (works 80+ hours a week) I said let's go to a beach. So he picked a motel that was on the beach and we left after he was done with work on Saturday. Parking is on the property and it's free to their customers. I have literally nothing bad to say. The Barcelona Motel is a stones throw away from the beach and is my favorite place to stay while in South NJ. They have a pool and separate children's pool if you don't feel like getting sandy at the beach and each room has it's own parking space on property. There's a variety of different rooms available to meet your needs and each room has it's own in wall A.C. unit so you can be as cool as you want. There's also a coffee pot, stove top, refrigerator, table and TV if you wanted to prepare any food in your room. Their free ice machines are also a great way to keep your summer refreshments super cold. The owners are so incredibly polite and caring. There's a variety of themed weekends and deals throughout the summer and Tom and Jenny put on one incredible BBQ!
