WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where do I start? I hated this place so much. first i was told i would only be charged a deposit when i booked it and the rest was due the day of. lies i got charged the whole amount the same day i booked it. I had made a mistake and put down 2 adults instead of 4. I did not realize until later that day I received a call from the receptionist confirming all the information. I explained to her it was 4 adults and 2 children. the day before I received an e-mail with the check in information and it was still show 2 adults only!!! i called the motel and told them i had spoken to the receptionist the same day I booked it and what they told me was that if there is a visitor that I can pay extra. when I arrived the story changed. I was told that I needed to be moved into another room because 4 adults and 2 children(9 years and 1 years old) don't fit in a double bed room. I tried to pay extra to keep that room and she argued on and on that it was not possible. long story short the fee was $225.00 extra. I went outside tried to book somewhere else and came back in and asked if i could just cancel the whole reservation. i understand that a cancellation fee would apply but i did not know that the whole amount was non-refundable. she advised those were the terms in Expedia? I did not book it through Expedia it was through hotels. but anyways we were there and we had drove 4 hours to get there and we were not going to leave. I booked the bigger room. I should have just let them keep our money and left right away. it was raining almost the whole weekend and they would not open the pool because it was raining(no thunder no lightning) anyways besides that the pool would close at 6pm no matter what. the pool is not heated. the picnic area is not covered it looks like one part is covered but is not. so if its raining you have no choice but to stay in your room. if you stay out in the lobby don't talk because every 2 minutes you will see the owners coming around to check up on you and to tell you you are being too loud. on our first night we were sitting outset our rooms(there are chairs outside for a reason right) anyways we were just siting there smoking and talking. It was around 8:30 pm and all of a sudden they turned off the lights and it was only the ones by us. we stayed there for another hour or so and the owner went around at least 6 times checking around. he stopped 4 times to ask if anyone has seen a lock that was used to close the pool and someone took it. (why could he went to home depot and buy 300 more) anyways if you are using the grill as soon as you stand in front of it the owner will come by you and turn on the grill for you and be all up on you. as if there is a time limit for use. ALSO they charge FOR ICE MACHINE. one positive thing is not the rooms are cleaned, the beds are not comfortable the bathroom needs improvement but i just felt like I was being watched all the time. you don't even need to pick up the phone and call front desk because they are around all the time and they stare at you as if you are doing something wrong. my experience was very bad at this place I suggest you only book a room...
Read moreThe staff did not give family friendly energy. We were staying for one night over Labor Day weekend. My son was truly excited to finally get to the beach after a long car ride. He is pretty hyperactive, and I know that can be jarring at first. I also know my son is very tall and appears to be older than he actually is. But at the end of the day, he was just being a 5 year old boy. Yes he rang the doorbell, twice. He touched a few of many pamphlets displayed for what I would assume would be for the guests of the motel. He was interested in the ice cream freezer that is on the guest’s side of the counter. He did ask the woman’s name who was checking us in (she did not respond), and did attempt to give her a hug behind the counter. I did not allow him to go behind the counter of course. She asked me to have him stop “running around” which he was not running around but I asked him to anyway.
She made it very apparent that our room was ON TOP on the office, stating this information several times. I am assuming she thought we would cause commotion. She also asked me several times if it would just be us two in the room, which I thought was different. I replied yes every time she asked, but she felt the need to keep double checking. We ended our interaction with her saying “he’s quite a handful.” Yes mam, he is sometimes, as are a lot of children. He was a very excited, hyperactive 5 year old boy who was literally overjoyed to be at the beach -at this motel. He broke nothing, he was not rude, he did not scream and not one thing was out of place when we left the office.
We caused no trouble in our room despite being on top of the office, and left the room as clean as we found it. Sometimes children are seen and heard, not just seen. Sometimes children are truly interested in the display items in new places. Sometimes interactions like this are teachable moments for a child. There were many ways we could have been treated and communicated with upon checking in. The way we were welcomed left me feeling very uncomfortable, like we didn’t belong.
The property was everything you needed for a quick beach trip. The rooms were immaculately clean, were quiet and a block away from the beach, not to mention the price point was great! Although this property had 99% of what I love when visiting this beach, it did not feel kid friendly. Totally fine to not be a kid place, but a warning stating this before booking would have been very helpful. I do not like to bother anyone. I do not allow my child to act any way he pleases. I do not take my child places children do not belong. Leaving the blue water motel, I felt like I took my kid to a 5 star establishment and allowed him to act unacceptably. I will be staying at the many other motels in the area who have truly welcomed me and my very excited kid this...
Read moreOh man, these hotel owners were something else Ok so i rented a room over priced at 10 pm but what are you going to do at 10pm. I have 4 small children so i get a 2 full bed suit after i rented the room the woman told me i have to pay 65 more for a three bed bedroom room because it was illegal to have more than 2 kids in a bed. I told them to refund my money. They refused and as i was yelling at them to give me my money back they were trying to antagonize me and berate me i realized they had already called the police so i started telling all of their other guests exactly what they were trying to do to rip me off. The entire time the man was trying to get me to come out of the lobby so nobody else would find out what was going on! Some of the guests seemed concerned. At first they did not want to give me a cent back, then the cops came he explained his case, they saw i was not under the influence of anything so they told the hotel people to refund my money. The cop told me there was no law about how many people can sleep in one bed so they were forced to refund my money except the a*hls ended up keeping $25 dollars for cleaning fees. I will say that these were some of the nastiest, shiesty hotel owners i ever met they watch everything you do on their cameras like they are investigators. It's like being in prison i am sure they have alot of problems with customers after they treat them like total crap. To tell you the truth the cops were not much help as they kept telling me they could not make them pay a full refund because it was a "civil matter" figures they would back the hotel owners to some degree i mean they get paid from the city taxes after people like these steal money from out...
