I really wanted to give this place a good review because the owner Kathy is so lovely but in good conscious I cannot. I trust the reviews when I am booking travel. Yes, the owner is a lovely, helpful women and the place did have a nice family vibe. HOWEVER, the rooms are so out-dated and dirty. Nothing like the pictures on their website. Our toilet had a rust stain ring that literally drove me crazy everytime I used the bathroom. The day before our departure the toilet plugged and overflowed. When Kathy's husband fixed the issue he scrubbed out the stain himself. I was so grateful but also dismayed to see how little effort was put into housekeeping. Our 2nd morning there I left a $40 tip for the housekeeper. Hoping to secure good service for our stay. I straightened up the room and made the beds myself everyday. All the housekeeper did was hand us towels and toilet paper. The one day I asked to have the room vacuumed it didn't happen. When we got off the beach that day I went to office and vacuumed the room myself. Everything had a damp musty smell. We could not cook in the kitchenette room we paid additional for as only 1 of the 2 burners worked. The paint was chipped, the cabinets were cracked. It reminded me of every beach hotel I stayed in with my parents in the 70's. Exactly same decor and style. Extremely outdated. Forget the free wi-fi. It is nonexistent. I asked about it several times, kept hearing that is was related to "the storm" and that the IT guy was unavailable. You could connect to wi-fi in the office but the second you were 2 doors down it was gone. The website is very misleading. There are not 2 pools and there is no hot tub. The'second' pool is the kiddie area which has bars to separate it from main section of the pool. The 'hot tub' is just an area with seating but the water temperature was the same as the main pool. Our 8 night stay was $2500 with all the taxes and fees added in. The cost of the room worked out to about $300 and change a night. There is no way on God's green earth that the room was worth that. Infact $150 a night would be pushing it. I felt very angry and disappointed when I saw the room. I take my adult son and my grand daughter on a beach vacation every summer. I don't mind paying extra for a nice room which was what I thought I was booking. There is no way I could sleep at night if I owned that dump and charged a penny more than $100 night in it's current condition. I suggest doing some research and ignoring the pictures on the website. I am certain you can find a FAR nicer place to stay in that price range. Again the location was great and the beach was very nice. However take your hard earned dollars elsewhere....
Read moreAs a local in WC, and growing up in a family motel business for over 25 years, I have since moved on, but always interested in what the other Motels are doing, I have seen everything from some Motels not putting a penny into it, Which I just don't get. SO this brings me too why I am writing this short post LOL. THE Other day I took a ride thru the WW, and I stopped at my friend's Dave and Kathy Thompson, Dave being a contractor for 25 years, Him and his Wife wanted a Motel, that was there Dream, Alot of People laughed at them saying why do you want to get in the Motel business in there middle 60s when most were retiring or handling it to there kids, SO MY POINT IS, because I can never make long story short, So I believe this is there 4 or 5 year, and I went and saw the Granada, the first month they purchased it, I said to myself do they really know what there getting into, BECAUSE THE PLACE NEEDED SO MUCH WORK, Well they plugged away working around the clock, plus there other jobs, WELL LET ME TELL YOU I STOPPED BY THIS JUNE15 OF THIS SUMMER OF 23, And like I said having a place your Eyes are different than if you were not in the Business, WELL MY FINAL WORDS ARE 😲 WOW HOW BEAUTIFUL THE PLACE LOOKED, AND WHEN YOU HAVE 5 CHAMBER MAIDS, THAT HAVE BEEN WITH THEM FROM DAY ONE! THAT IS NO EASY FEAT, SO IF YOU WANT A VERY CLEAN MODERN UPDATED FAMILY MOTEL IN THE South End of WC, the Granada is for you, P.S. I believe they are one of only maybe 5 MOTELS THAT THEIR HEATED OLYMPIC SIZE POOL IS DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH, I SUGGEST YOU BOOK EARLY AND SAY HELLO TO DAVE AND KATHY, YOU WON'T BE...
Read moreWe came to Wildwood for my daughters Dance Nationals, July 10th-13th (sitting on the beach writing this review on our last day here). We arrived Monday around 1pm. The room was ready, and was stocked with a toaster, microwave, stove top and coffee pot in additional to a full size fridge. One of the first things I did was find the local grocery store (less then 2 miles away) and grab some breakfast and lunch items for the stay. There are 2 beach side restaurants within a 10 minute walk with delicious food! The owners are outstanding, my kids couldn't get the bedroom TV to work when I went to the store and the owner (I think his name is Dave) came immediately and trouble shot the problem. He got it working but also had the cable company come out to replace the box which was the problem. I've never been to a cleaner beach (I lived in Myrtle Beach for 12 years and have been to Virginia Beach). Every morning the beach is raked. Not a drop of garbage in site. Garbage cans and recycling bins everywhere!! Bring a wagon tho, it's a hike to actually get to the ocean. Every night was quiet and peaceful. Everyone left their beach wagons and towels outside to dry with zero issues. There is a common area/picnic area to grill and hang out. Being peak season, the price was a bit higher than other places but to be away from the "downtown" boardwalk and feel safe was 100% worth every penny. If we are ever out this way again, we will definitely be...
