There was so much going wrong from the moment we arrived. Firstly I will say that Sean at the front desk was very helpful and nice. The reason we picked this hotel was they said they had large rooms, laundry amenities available, a mini fridge in the room, and a safe. So because we were staying a week, a fridge would have been helpful, but it wasn't cold so we talked to the front desk man and he told us it wasn't a fridge, but a cooler we had to keep ice in to keep it cold. It's definitely not a cooler, it's supposed to be a fridge. I know this because we have the exact one at home. So we talked to the next front desk lady the next morning and she reiterated that it's just a cooler, not a fridge. That really hindered our ability to buy any kind of food for the room, because the ice melted within two hours of being in the cooler-fridge. The reason I believe the fridge stopped working was because they have it in a tiny enclosed cabinet which from experience causes them to over heat and not work because of lack of proper ventilation. So because they wanted us to treat it like a cooler, we asked for an extra ice bucket to keep ice in it. Apparently they have 0 spare ice buckets because two staff looked for awhile and then finally just said no, they don't have any. Next, moving to the bathroom, it's a sliding door, which is fine except there is no handle on the inside, so you have to just paw at the glass until you can get it to slide open, or use the lock to try to get a tiny bit of a hold to open it. As it's a heavy door, I broke off three fingernails before finally we just stopped closing the bathroom door. Which is awkward. The bathroom mirror is huge, which is great, except it's literally almost 4 foot from the edge of the sink. Which means, if you wear glasses, you have to move over and straddle the toilet to use the mirror because you'd have to be 6'5" to be able to lean over the sink and shelf to see in the mirror. We were leaving for the day and I asked the front desk lady about our safe, wanting to use it incase house keeping came in, just for my own paranoia, and she told me that the combination is just the room number, which isn't correct at all, a man named Ed corrected her after awhile. Didn't end up using it and opted to just not have room service come in because we were uncomfortable. Next, the laundry amenities... 110+ rooms and one wash and one dryer. I ran into many other people needing to do laundry with a wait time of 3+ hours. One of them even said the reason he chose this hotel was because they said laundry amenities and he was super upset that it was one washer for everyone. I couldn't use it because the soap tray was so gunked up and I have to use hypoallergenic soap, there was no way. Not that I wanted to use it because it was $2.50 to wash a load (more if you want hot water) and Almost $2 to dry, per load. That's. Insane. So we ended up at a laundry mat for a few hours. The room we booked was not the room we were given, the photos of the chosen room were way different than the room we ended up in. For some reason you can't use some of the lamps without having a huge light on as well, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a small light to use while someone else is sleeping, when you have a massive light on as well. There is not a single vending machine in the building or area around, which makes things difficult if you don't get in until late because every place to eat is closed. So unless you want to drop 10 bucks at the front desk for a tiny bag of chips and a warm soda, that you can't cool down in a mini fridgooler, you'd best stock up on non perishable foods before anything closes. We wanted to change hotels the first night but there was nothing else available. Stayed at a sleep inn for $60 a few nights before and the experience there was 100 times better that Hyatt. We realized how bad it was that we were hoping we could make ramen in our single cup coffee pot in our room just to...
Read moreBrides beware. I had my wedding at riverfront events. So I worked with the sales team while the hotel and venue itself is beautiful and everything is clean and looks new. There were parts of the bridal party suites that were broken and didn’t seem all there so we had to move things around in the room and alter things so that lighting would work with our photographer and getting hair and make up done. The real issue was with the sales staff. Every time we tried to address a problem we were sent to someone else yet, kept going around and around. they wanted to make sure that they had their money on time and we tried to keep track of who in both of our families were reserving rooms to make sure that people who needed them had them, and that became a nightmare because my mom had put her name down on multiple rooms and the suites, but my mother-in-law was able to go on and reserve two of the three suites even though my mom‘s name was already down on them so I don’t know why or how that happened but then extra rooms my mom had put her name down on also we’re not taken care of. My mom had to go in person three times and every time she was told the front desk person couldn’t help her and then if she wanted to book rooms she either had to do it with them or do it online, but then was met with not being able to do it, because the rooms were already taken by other guests, and then when it came down to the wire of our Wedding room discount cut off, we had to like tell them by a certain time and date the rooms that we were letting go which we were only two rooms off, so I don’t know why after all the issues we went through they didn’t just give us the two rooms just in case we had people day of the wedding need rooms. I think with a better sales team, structure, and being more communicative with their especially wedding parties, because I have heard through the grapevine that I am not the first bride to experience this that this could be an amazing venue, while beautiful and definitely met “Our look” needs it was very difficult to work with People that work there. I just want to communicate this for other brides, who are looking at this venue and make sure they know I am not saying not to go here because it is beautiful, and it fit our needs perfectly, but the issue was trying to communicate with the staff and being met with a lot of resistance. While I understand that there were plenty of rooms and that we were not the only wedding there because we spent the night in the hotel lobby bar with another wedding party that got married offsite. I also understand that the remaining rooms they decided to sell to a baseball team, which then to try to join both of our wedding parties at the hotel lobby with pizzas and it was just too much going on I was very surprised with how they reacted to, and had all of us parties being my wedding, party, the other wedding party, and the entire baseball team in the same space. My last piece of advice would be that on wedding, weekends or large event weekends there should definitely be more people at the front desk and or have more kiosks available for people to be able to check in because when people were trying to check in it definitely got backed up with only one person there. I wish that I would’ve seen more reviews like this while looking at the wedding planning process it probably just would have mentally prepped me more for what to be prepared for when working with certain sales teams. Our wedding is a huge topic with our family, because of how amazing it was and how much of a great time everyone had, but that was because a lot of it, I took care of behind-the-scenes, making sure that they didn’t have to deal with anything stressful, or that there was no out of the...
Read moreMostly excellent stay! I had a corner King room suite with View, separate living area, sofa/sofabed. Great views of Riverwalk and River facing, though windows not floor to ceiling so unless I was standing up I couldn’t enjoy view. Minor I know, but when I requested River view I had different expectations is all. I’m not very tall. There were a few dead black tiny bugs in carpet near where mini fridge was. Dirty under cabinet on floor where bugs were. I wouldn’t have normally noticed but since I saw the bugs I looked under the furniture and saw how dirty it was. Room needs deep cleaning, under furniture etc. I didn’t see any live bugs thankfully but I still felt a little weirded out. Shower didn’t have consistent hot water particularly on Sunday morning it was lukewarm to cool, even on hottest setting. I tolerated it. When I showered Sunday night however it was plenty hot. Have to say the A/C was EXCELLENT!! A lot better than other Hyatt’s I recently stayed at. Bed comfortable.
A little disappointed with no free breakfast but compared to going out to eat, still was likely cheaper for what you get, and very enjoyable, fresh, hot. Loved the yogurt bar with fresh berries, melon, dried fruits/nuts. Compared to other Hyatt Places/Houses, breakfast here was super. Tables and floor also very clean. Breakfast attendant and lots of staff to help keep things clean and stocked. Another Hyatt I stayed at in July was dismal in comparison (though free).
Location great, near restaurants, right on the Riverwalk.
Service overall 4/5, friendly front desk, helpful. Housekeeper friendly. The only negative thing I noticed with Service is on Sunday evening, another Housekeeper on my floor seemed like he was in the weeds, rushing to get things done, overwhelmed, grumbling about it. He seemed to need support. I took notice as I had gone down to the Lobby a few times to load my car and saw him in the hallway. Then a Manager or Supervisor came up to check on him who I...
