Bring your boots and Low Expectations.
This attraction was thrown together in a few days with actual trailers. This "Beer Garden" reminds me of one of the better frat parties we would have at school. The only difference is we didn't charge $5 for a Coors Light BUT you will get the opportunity to drink out of a plastic cup. I wanted to scream noooooooo as the bartender poured my Dogfish into a very cheap plastic cup. At least use a Solo cup guys it's an $7 beer. I was then going to order some over price fries but I saw a waitress walking out of the kitchen with her hair hanging down all into the food. I'm not easily grossed out but I wasn't going to eat anything after I saw that.
The boring stuff This site was built in a few days on piece of property that is entirely flat. So unless we're in a drought you can expect it to be a mud pit. The Bocce Ball area floods with each rain event and the place turns into a mud pit.
The sad stuff They want you to think it's a garden but have planted ZERO trees, shrubs, or plants. The only thing I did see them do is move some Arborvitaes around that are still in the balled burlap. These are the same trees they had placed around the skating rink. They are 12 feet tall and hanging onto life. I noticed one already died. This eyesore also drains directly into a nearby wetland. This wetland is about 20' away and drains right into the adjacent river. I actually saw a parade of plastic bottles floating down the river as far as i could see last Friday. I was actually angry as I run on the river daily an this is the first time I've seen...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe idea of using freight containers as a kitchen and bar space is indeed unique. However, it appears that cost-saving took precedence over quality in the establishment's setup. I've visited numerous locations with a similar ambiance, but the differentiator often boils down to attention to detail. The outdoor tables and deck, unfortunately, seem to have suffered from neglect, showing signs of weathering and wear like bleached wood and splinters.
One might argue that if a business focuses on saving on infrastructure, then customer service should be their shining armor. On our visit, however, we experienced quite the contrary. We felt as though we were being reprimanded like children by the manager for a mere act of kindness towards other customers.
The establishment has a noticeable lack of umbrellas for the number of tables exposed to the sun. While we were fortunate to find a shaded table, the adjacent family, which included an elderly couple, wasn't. Trying to help, we began moving our umbrella to share the shade, only to be sharply rebuked by the manager over the umbrella's cost.
It would be beneficial if the establishment provided an adequate number of umbrellas for patrons. If there are strict rules, clear signage would be helpful - perhaps something like "Please Do Not Move the Umbrellas."
On a positive note, the servers were commendable and we had no issues with their service. However, a more measured and professional approach from the management, especially during confrontations, would certainly elevate the customer experience. Empathy and understanding are key to any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is such a cool place in the middle of Wilmington! Being from out of state and not knowing much about Delaware, I did not notice too many things to do. However, we stopped by here on a whim while walking around and were pleasantly surprised!
They had lots of tables set up in the main area and had some extra tables and seating at the front as well. They have the food and bar around the perimeter with 4 cornhole playing areas in the middle. A live band was in one of the corners, but didn't play much during the time we were there. They also had a big screen with a basketball game on in the background. Security was pretty good about directing people and the people at the bar area were super friendly. They had lots of beer options, but we weren't big beer drinkers so opted for a moscow mule and mojito which came in cans. They were not bad. We also go the wings to eat.
We came in the late afternoon on a Saturday and most of the tables were already occupied. When we were leaving, we noticed more people waiting in line to get in and occupy the seating front. I would recommend getting here in the afternoon before it gets too busy at night. They have string lights so I assume it gets pretty busy the...
