I’m not one to usually leave a review, but I had a disappointing experience here. Me and my friend came in for brunch after a hike. I ordered some sides off of the menu and my friend ordered tacos. The menu had specific prices for side items which I based my order on since I’m on a budget. When I received my plate I got 2 sausage patties instead of 1 when I had ordered 1 and they were $2 each. It’s not a big deal at all normally, $2 is $2, but I asked our waitress about it twice after seeing that, only eating half of one, and then receiving the check and she told me that I just ordered the side as it was and it’s not priced per patty. Then when I got the check I was charged $4 for 2 patties when the menu said $2. I asked her about it again and she just said she didn’t know why the menu said that because the side came with 2. I have worked in the service industry for years at very similar diners to this one and other places and I know that it is normal to upcharge to gain a couple of bucks and that’s not the issue here. The issue is that if a customer questioned their order not being what they wanted multiple times and expressed concern about them being charged for what they didn’t order/didn’t eat, I would take off the item, but I felt like she was lying to my face instead and so I just ended up paying for it. There were other issues- we didn’t get checked on until we had finished our meals and were waiting for the check, and my friend’s order also had some items missing and she was charged extra (as in the prices on the menu didn’t match what she was charged for). All together, it was disappointing and as someone with significant customer service experience specifically in restaurants, I was very disappointed with my treatment. I find it hard to believe that the menu is just wrong, but if that is the case, then that should be corrected. I got the feeling that this place has a lot of touristy people out of town that pass through so our server didn’t care if I left with a bad experience. It’s a shame because the place is so cute and me and my friend loved the server from our first impression. I still tipped 20% because I’m not one to take my frustration out on someone’s livelihood, but I would never have done that as a server, even if the customer was wrong...
Read moreWe ate thereThursday night and had a great experience. The waiter was very attentive and friendly and other than the mashed potatoes & the rice being too salty; food was great. It was a great 1st impression of Wimberley town & their local cafe. The following night in celebration of our son’s graduation from Texas State University, we decided to avoid San Marcos congestion & because we had a great experience Thursday night, we decided to visit the cafe again. This time we were disappointed. First of all my adult son spilled his tea soon after it was served. My son had to go fetch staff to let them know he spilled his tea. You’d think they’d run over to clean, but NO -he was handed a towel to clean up for himself! Then a few more staff walked up including our waiter & HANDED him More towels & Walked away!!! Grrrr by the way, not only did they not clean up for him, but they didn’t even bring him a new drink until we ordered our food, they jokingly said, “oh & I guess you’ll need a new drink.” I Don’t know why I agreed to pay to “predetermined” gratuity (group of 9). I SHOULD have complained about this to this restaurant at that time. As I sat & brewed on this situation decided to reach out to the manager the next morning. His response was “I’ll talk to waiting staff.” Not - could we offer free fries next time you come in, Something- No type of compensation was offered for the bad service, even after I mentioned that our plan (before this) was to have their waffles in the morning. We don’t plan to go back there next time we...
Read moreFirst and foremost. I normally don't write reviews, I normally just make a mental note to never patronize again. I do believe, post covid we are all used to, and normally accept subpar service and subpar food that is delivered to the table with the restaurant industry. Came in today around 2 pm for lunch with my 2 granddaughters. I asked the young man at reception if anything was available, he said I have a table right behind you, outside on the porch. Please be advised that it was around 100 degrees outside. I asked him if anything was available inside where it's cooler. His arrogant response was, I guess I will have to check, but which he did not do. He then proceeded to gather 3 menus, sat us down and walked away. I Accepted the outside table, as I assumed they were busy, sat there for at least 15 minutes before any waitstaff acknowledged our existence. During the 15 minutes I watched 3 other parties show up and immediately be seated inside. So let's get past the disrespect. The waitress did show up, she was very pleasant. Ordered a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Key Lime Pie and and a Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich. How can you screw up that order? Food came shortly after. Key Lime, Grilled Cheese mediocre at best. The BLT sucked, bread was good, Lettuce ok, tomato OK. The Bacon was obviously left over from yesterday's Breakfast. Like Chewing on Jerky. I will never grace this Doorway Again. Dairy Queen would have been an...
