PARENTS OF THE BRIDE REVIEW
You have seen our daughter’s review, so we thought it was only fair that we provide information from our vantage point as well. My wife and I have been staying at the Square Inn for many years now and have always been impressed with the wonderful hospitality provided by Marci, Lloyd and their team. From the wonderful rooms to the fresh cooked breakfast’s every morning it is more like visiting family than staying in a bed and breakfast.
When they started construction on their Legacy Lounge our only daughter was already engaged and looking for a venue. We immediately recommended that she consider having her wedding here and once she had a chance to take a look she was sold as well.
From the very beginning Marci was there to help with suggestions for the wedding and referrals to local businesses that could help us put together the wedding my daughter wanted. Given that our daughter informed us in November she wanted to be married in late April or early May I do not think we could have put this together without her.
In the end we booked not only the Legacy Lounge but all 8 rooms of the Square Inn as well. I highly recommend this arrangement as there were enough rooms for the wedding party and increased the footprint of the event allowing for a truly unique experience. We would find out as time went on that the value received on our money was greater than what we believe we would have received at any of the other venues we looked at.
Marci, Lloyd and their team were again on point on the day of the wedding providing the services of wedding coordinator, bar staff and entertainment coordinator. There was never a long line at the bar. When some guests wanted to watch the hockey playoffs Marci made that happen on an outside TV. Fire Pit? Here came Lloyd to make the fire come to life. It was almost as if it were if it was one of their own children was getting married that day.
At the end of the evening when it was time to go, we moved the happy couple to the front of the Square Inn where they were able to say goodbye to all their guests and finally relax for the evening. As we had booked all the rooms, only the wedding party remained after the ceremony and reception and the bride and groom were able to spend a quiet night in the courtyard with their closest friends relaxing after what had been a couple of very busy and stressful days.
This was the most unique wedding we have ever attended and we cannot think of anything that could have made it better. If you are looking for a somewhere to hold a special event, do yourselves a favor and give the Legacy Lounge / Square inn a look. I can guarantee you will not be...
Read moreThis was the most horrible place we could have stayed for our honeymoon. I'm ashamed to tell people this is where we stayed and will never recommend it to anyone. Staff was never available we arrived after our wedding and it took 20 min for someone to even show up at the front desk after we had walked up in down the halls saying "hello hello". The numbers on the door to get In were unreadable completely smeared off. The wifi and TV didn't work so much so that they guy had to give us another code because our laptop wouldn't even work. (Which thank for we brought it for Netflix because every tv channel said unavailable. They lied about their medicine they had available. I'm pregnant and can only take tylonel which they said they had which was a lie they only had aspirin. Anytime we went to the front. I one was there to help us. And they're trying to charge us for damamges to the room that we did not do. I'm very disappointed in this place. We're having a second honeymoon to make up for this one. Also they couple who lived there and "owns it" was fighting so loud we could hear from our room when I went to see what was going on she was entering the room next to ours with cleaning supplies and yells "GET OUT OF MY WAY" to her fiancé. Not very professional. The lest they could do is not charge us for these fake damages they can't even provide pictures for. Especially considering the horrible service we got. Don't ever go here this is a horrible place don't...
Read moreStayed during COVID times. The location is good - everything else about this hotel is substandard. We regretted the stay and will advise to avoid this place. Here is why:
Most of the positive reviews below mention breakfast which these days consists of a few old muffins, Chewy bars and mediocre coffee. No freshly made food, no fruit. I understand that the regulations during COVID make it difficult to serve breakfast but I also have been to hotels that have managed to maintain their breakfast standards, this is not one of them. I think COVID is used as an excuse here.
The room we stayed at had absolutely no natural light, it felt like being in a dark depressing box. The effect is worsened by the poor lighting in the room. There are so many places in Wimberley with beautiful views - this is not one of them, it has no views at all. If you don't have claustrophobia - the stay in this hotel will bring it out even in you. I tried to stay outside most of the day just so I don't have to return to the depressing room.
The water was off for some time during our stay and nobody came in to give us heads up or to apologize and give us any estimates on when it will turn back on.
Toiletry items were very cheap, not what you expect from a boutique hotel. Something you’d find in a transit motel, not in a place Square Inn advertises to be.
To summarize, we did not enjoy our stay, we did not feel welcomed, we will not return. This was a "memorable stay" but not for...
