Honesty - my toddler & baby were in a STATE so take everything I post with a grain of salt… here we go from a lady who’s from 3 generations of Wimberley/dripping springs residents.
I parked here at 4pm. Walked in carrying a 1 and 2 year old and said I have a party of 5 adults (2 being older adults) and these kids and would love a table inside at 5pm. I came back right at 5pm on the dot with said babies and adults, however there was a couple that walked in the door in front of me asking for a table inside. I waved to the same hostess I spoke to and instead of offering this couple a high top table that was available inside or bar seats inside, she gave them the last remaining 4-6 person table that she told me I could (most likely) have at 5pm. (I had told her I was going to exhaust my kids on the playground in town prior to returning at 5pm, both my kids were drenched in sweat ready to eat with their grandparents inside at this time).
I accepted 😢 the “first come first served” seating policy (albeit a bit ticked she could’ve accommodated both my party and the couple inside, but didn’t) and accepted what was left outside that could fit us after this.
HONESTLY, my family loved everything they ordered from across the menu. However I ordered the Mexican salad with fajita chicken and I did not like it. Dry salad (even though dressing is mentioned in description). Didn’t get more than 3 bites in and gave up just picking fajita chicken off the top for some protein snack.
DRINKS WERE GREAT AND WE GOT A VARIETY!!! 🙏
After our food was completely delivered the server didn’t really come to check on us until we asked for the check. She was attentive up until our food arrived though. (4 checks before food, none after).
Again I want to emphasize that because my kids were hot and sweaty and then had to sit outside to eat in the heat they were not well behaved and wouldn’t eat much. Which probably caused a disruption for more than just my table out there. And left me a bit haggard and unable to enjoy the space or food or ambiance personally.
I do believe nada mucho is going to be a hit in this town. You SHOULD give it a try, but I just had an underwhelming visit this time from start to finish. I’m sure other party members would give it 5 stars but as the mom of the group that struggled from every aspect I can only give it 4.
I hope to come back soon and have a much better...
Read moreWhat more is there to say about Tex Mex in our great state? How many times can you really say, after dining on the latest Combo Plato #3, that it was truly extraordinary? What is the difference between one refried bean and another? Not much. Is the gulf really so wide between cheese enchiladas(even frozen ones from the supermarket)? No, not much. The sizzling cast iron is the siren call to all suburban men searching for their Friday night triumph, but is it really such a victory? No, not much. We will wax poetic about how our tacos are so much better than California, but should there really be so much strife over corn tortillas and their requisite stuffings? Alas, not this much.
So why then do we always search, we Texans, to find our coveted corner spot? If there really isnt so much difference between this torta, or that carne asada, why all the blustering? Because Tex Mex is part of our culture, part of our blood, even if yours doesnt specifically come from south of the border. Tex Mex is part of our way of life, and our restaurants-our favorites-we clutch them to our bosoms like a precious gem. We invite our aunts and uncles from Flyover country to toss aside their dripping, black olive-covered abominations and come and sample the "real thing". We need-no we demand!-that it be a crucial aspect in our lives. Our treasured little slice of Mexican-American culture, where the margaritas are just right; where the guac wasnt choked in lime juice; where the tortillas are being flipped on a hot griddle by dispassionate employees; where the Astros are banging their drums on tvs hung above the bar. This is who we are.
So why then would you come here to Wimberley and try this, over any other Tex Mex joint? After all, its Not...
Read moreOur family visited Nada Mucho Tex-Mex while vacationing in Wimberley, TX, in hopes of enjoying a flavorful and authentic Mexican meal. Unfortunately, this restaurant missed the mark.
As someone of Mexican heritage, I was particularly disappointed in the lack of traditional flavor. I ordered the vegetarian burrito for health reasons, but even within that category, I've had far more flavorful dishes elsewhere. Serving it with plain white rice instead of Mexican rice felt uninspired—almost as if no real attempt was made to embrace the richness of Mexican cuisine. Presentation-wise, the food looked nice, which I would expect from an upscale establishment, but flavor should always take priority in any culinary experience—especially when it claims to be "Tex-Mex."
Mexican food is about bold, layered flavors—pinto beans simmered with spices, rice cooked with tomatoes and garlic, and dishes that reflect generations of tradition. Atmosphere plays a role too. While I appreciated the inclusion of Selena on the playlist, the vibe could have been more immersive—maybe a little Vicente Fernández would have better captured the spirit.
On a positive note, our server was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. The margaritas were tasty, albeit smaller and pricier than we’re used to. Many places offer twice the size for the same price, which made this feel a bit overpriced.
Also, can we talk about avocado always being an upcharge? I understand pricing, but it's become a tired trend—avocado isn't gold.
In the end, I give Nada Mucho an “E” for effort. It might appeal to tourists looking for a trendy setting, but for those seeking authentic Mexican flavor and atmosphere, this is not the place. Sadly, we won’t...
