If you like new and fancy, this is not going to be the place for you. If you like quirky, charming and unique, then this place is a gem. It's an old but well-maintained pension with a lot of character. Everything was spotlessly clean and worked perfectly. The rooms had great air conditoning, great bathrooms, comfortable beds. (We didn't have trouble with the shower curtain wrapping around us, as others did.) The rooms are all named after flowers; ask for the "NoMeOlvides" (Forgetmenot) room---it's the best. The family 3-bed room was also very very nice. Located a brief 5-minute walk from the historic section. The breakfast is assorted pastries (fancy ones) and whole fruit with tea, juice and coffee; not a full breakfast but hearty enough to get you filled up. But, the best thing at this hotel is the service. They were so helpful to us in any little thing we needed, including scheduling cars for us and finding an English-speaking guide. The photos on Tripadvisor are exactly accurate and are what you get. Rooms are slightly cramped: adequate but not huge. We paid $79 USD for a night in an upgraded room, but a $60 room (two twin beds) is still quite nice, and all rooms face the garden. If you want something a bit fancier, go for $100 and pick the Don Antonio; if you want something a lot fancier, go for $300 and...
Read moreIncredibly charming little hotel in a beautiful older building. The inner courtyard with fountain was lovely, and the jasmine vines growing had an incredible scent. My room was nice and clean. The only downside, which can happen at any hotel, is that some of the other guests were noisy and the sound did travel quite well. I wasn't sure if there were "quiet hours", but the noise did die down after 11pm.
The service was excellent. All the staff spoke to me in English, which I appreciated with my very limited Spanish. The lady who checked me in gave me lots of good recommendations on things to do, and where to go for lunch. I ended up falling so in love with Colonia del Sacramento that I ended up extending my stay an extra night, and they were very helpful and accommodating to make that happen. They also asked about dietary restrictions and provided a completely gluten-free breakfast, which I was not expecting!
I also enjoyed taking one of the hotel's provided bicycles to explore up along the river and visit the Plaza de Toros and the...
Read moreWe only had one night in Colonia, and didn't have high expectations for our hotel. Posada de la Flor was such a lovely little surprise and oasis! It is an adorable place with an expansive courtyard. Our room, two twins, was small but very cozy, with cute pillows and a small chandelier to brighten up the room. The bathroom was a nice size with a refreshing shower, and the entire place was very clean. The bonus for us were the extra amenities that this Bed and Breakfast offered, like the free bikes we could use to bike around the city and an excellent breakfast spread. So many pastries on display! They also had board games that people were playing in the dining room in the evenings. We enjoyed spending time in our room and slept extremely well. I think Posada de la Flor highlights the charm and welcome that characterizes...
