I booked this hotel after reading numerous reviews talking about the architecture and creepiness. I love old buildings, and figured it couldn't be that bad, which it wasn't. The bed was new as well as the linens, my room was quite clean and nicely furnished (though it could use more than a single working outlet). The building is quite nice, from the 20s leaning more on neo-classical than art deco styling, though inside you can find a bit more. There's a nice scary elevator with a leather door, too.||||All that said, I paid 40USD for a single and the room didn't even have hot water (I left it running to check, too). The heater/air conditioner barely functions because the remote for it is locked at 24C in some sort of passive mode. I tried resetting it to no avail, and my room was cold enough I resorted to heating it with my electric burner. Also breakfast would have been nice. ||||Overall, too high of a price for too poor service. The building wasn't interesting enough to make up for the gap, and I left...

Read moreWe had a double room for just for one night. It was very small, so that the bed was almost in the way of getting inside the room (one person had to get in, close the door a little and walk through, for the other to come in. The sheets and towels were not completely clean (you could see they've been washed, but had small, embedded old stains). Bathroom had the shower area behind a curtain, but toilet and bidet were also within that same area (a bit weired and not the most comfortable). Very nice staff at reception, easy check in and payment by card with no extra charges. Location of the hotel is good, with just 8 minutes walk to plaza Independencia and shops, few restaurants and money exchange within short walking distance too. Wi-fi is of good quality and speed. There is soap in the bathroom, which is not always the case in South America. Bed is comfortable and bathroom pretty modern. Also, overall the hotel is kept pretty clean.
