I cannot overstate how terrible our stay at this hotel was. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the management has completely neglected both the hotel and its guests. The entire place is in a desolate condition—everything is either broken or in disrepair.
Let’s start with the basics: the power sockets are a serious hazard, with too few in each room, and some are literally hanging halfway out of the wall, making them not only inconvenient but outright dangerous. The rooms reek of a musty, mouldy smell that immediately hits you when you walk in, making it impossible to feel comfortable.
The neighbourhood surrounding the hotel is equally appalling. We witnessed people being besieged right outside the door. We didn’t feel safe stepping out, and it’s clear the hotel does nothing to address this.
The lobby, which contains a large restaurant, is pure chaos. Children are allowed to run wild—climbing over furniture with their shoes, engaging in pillow fights with the sofa cushions between guests trying to have dinner, and banging loudly on the piano. The hotel staff watched this unfold without lifting a finger to intervene. I have never seen anything so antisocial, let alone in a hotel that charges these kinds of rates.
The state of cleanliness? Embarrassing. The towels were grey, some even torn, and when we went to the spa, we discovered that guests were not allowed to use the pile of towels sitting there because it would set off an alarm. Yes, you read that correctly—an alarm goes off if you take towels from the spa. My family was forced to leave the pool soaking wet because we weren’t allowed to use the towels! To make matters worse, we got stuck in the lift, still wet, and the door open button didn’t even work.
Back in the room, the hairdryer barely gets warm, and the shower was caked with limescale, making it nearly impossible to get hot water without waiting an eternity.
During checkout, the staff didn’t even bother to ask, “How was your stay?” It’s as if they already know the answer but don’t want to hear it anymore. When I finally complained and told them outright that their hotel is a disaster, the response I received was a dismissive “Yes, I know.” Excuse me?
Oh, and the Kids Club? Non-existent. It’s advertised as part of their offer, but at 11:15 AM during their supposed hours of operation, no one was there.
In summary, this hotel is an absolute disaster, both in terms of safety and service. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere unless you want to ruin your trip and put your family at risk. Management clearly knows how bad things are and just doesn’t care. Save yourself the headache and stay...
Read moreThis is the Deal. You pay good money for a 5 stars hotel expecting not only the best facilities and hospitality from their staff but feeling safe during your stay, in particular if you are traveling with your family. My experience ruined a good part of my stay in Montevideo, country where i was born, but my 10 year old daughter and wife as well. The room we got assigned was Meh but just arriving we noticed a super strong ambient deodorizer smell inside...totally over the top. We thought, well, maybe the cleaning crew just miscalculated it's use. We went to have some food and then we return to have a good night sleep. What happen over the next few hours was a complete nightmare. Some resident wouldn't stop smoking like a chimney in the room right next to ours(we could smell it from the key hole of the door that communicate our room with that one) to the point our eyes were irritated!!. Remember the ambient deodorizer smell? yep that was why. The hotel staff did absolutely nothing to stop that man from smoking(besides asking him politely to stop, for like 4 times?) to the point i have to knock on his door and confront the man face to face because he was doing something illegal and someone should have called the police and kicked him out. Long story short, what the Radisson Montevideo hotel did to "correct" the situation? move myself and my family to a different room on a different floor at 3 am in the morning!!! YES, they moved me my wife and a minor in the middle of the night!!! The people who paid fully the stay and didn't infringed a single law! instead of kicking that guy out of the hotel... I inquired directly to the reception and i expected them not to charge me for that night(man, they should have return all the money or at least give us the presidential suite for the horrible time we had to endure with that lowlife smoking non stop next to our room). They did nothing. Saddest part is that their knew this guy as a re-offender and who would throw parties with "prostitutes" and not only they allow him to keep doing it but they put other residents in the room right next to his!!! Their own staff told that in my face like it was funny or something. We stayed from 6/30/2024 and checking out 07/02/2024. Seeing the decline of one of the most high end hotel in Uruguay is really really sad. I'm sure having the casino downstairs attracts not the best clientele. This hotel is not safe and they not protect their decent guest but allow the one breaking the Uruguayan law to do as they...
