It’s a good price quality ratio. It might be a little bit less than tje standard of IHG if you’re used to stay on other hotels of the chain. Reception staff is nice, check in process is quite old school, fill in forms and photocopy of ids. Facilities could be updated and some need easy and cheap fix. Buttons that need to press couple times to work. We stayed at the presidential suite which has an in room decent size jacuzzi for usd100 it’s a bargain. Furniture overall is in good condition but aged and looks cheap. Living room with bar and stoods but no mini bar but a mini fridge on the room. If I were the hotel manager I would have spent usd5 and include some nice toiletries, bath bomb or foam would be nice. Couple of bath ropes and maybe sleepers. Tv is old and medium to small size, but ok. Overall clean. Air conditioning works good and it’s easy to operate. It takes about 15 minutes to adjust room temperature. Windows can be partially open which is a plus.
Do not expect a view. The only piece of the bay you can see is from the swimming pool on the 10th. Facilities there are also poor. Nevertheless, clean and sufficient. Breakfast was a good surprise. Even though if you’re a beans on toast consumer might be disappointed. Scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, jam are offered as well as a selection of different breads and sweets. Basic Hot drinks and low quality juices. Furniture on restaurant again ok but cheap and old looking.
Location is great during day time, but at night might feel a little bit unsafe. Overall a good stay, but please include mini bar service as well as nice pair of wine glasses, coffe cups and standard glasses instead of those vending machine plastic cups, specially on a...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay here greatly. The room was surprisingly spacious and quite comfortable. I made some use of the swimming pool on the top floor, as well as the fitness center, which features a couple treadmills, an elliptical trainer and a couple stationary bikes, but only one rather heavy set of dumbbell weights and no nautilus type machines. A hotel directory in my room suggested that there was a sauna adjacent to the fitness center, but I was never able to find it (it wasn't important enough to me to ask about at the front desk, however). And speaking of the front desk, I must say that the staff there were perhaps the best part of my stay. They were always consistently highly helpful, professional, courteous and also kind and friendly. They were patient with the fact that I wanted to use my (much less than perfect) Spanish, although English would probably have more than sufficed and might have been easier for all of us. I appreciated their patiently obliging me in this regard. The only downside I might mention is that the Wi-Fi signal in my room was of poor quality and stability (I was on a higher floor right next to the elevator bank, and the steel in its construction may have been a factor). I worked around this by either using Wi-Fi in the lobby or using the wired Ethernet connector at the desk in my room for my laptop once daily as needed briefly to keep track of things back home. All in all, though, a great stay and I'm glad I had a chance to...
Read moreAfter the ceiling above the shower caved in on my suite and when I called the reception to complain I was met with unbelief so I went down to the lobby to show the photos of the cave in and was promptly moved to another room.
In the morning I told I would get some sort of compensation prior to checking out but still have not received any from the hotel or IHG. Upon writing to IHG multiple times they have contacted the hotel and but also not gotten any reasonable answers from the property. It's been many months now and no resolution.
On the up side there is a nice mini museum in the lobby, friendly security and complementary breakfast for Diamonds which was decent enough. I did stay at other brand hotels in Uruguay and while many of them were old I have never had a ceiling cave in on me while in the bathroom at any hotel I have ever stayed at so for sure a first for me... luckily I was not injured.
I understand this hotel might not have the funds for repair so perhaps that is why they have not issued any points either but even a small amount for the inconvenience caused would be a decent gesture. The location of the hotel is very close but there are other competing chain hotel options within walking distance nearby such as the Wyndham or Radisson which were better when I visited. Hopefully IHG invests some money into their property as it would be sad to lose the only IHG foothold in...
