The food is ok, but the prices are insane, in the US for an all you can eat Korean BBQ, it’s typically around $30 depending on the city, at least I’ve never seen anything over $50 per person.
It’s hard to believe that the BBQ in Montevideo, which is ok in meat quality but only provide you a single plate of pork belly can somehow charge you $50+. And the pork belly is very thin as well.
I’ve had Korean BBQ around the world, even in some quite extravagant places, and I feel the Korean bbq here is a completely ripoff due to its prices.
Remember, only a place of maybe 15 thin pork belly slices, including a plate of 2 pieces of onions, some small bowls of kimchi, plus some simple bottled drinks, would cost you $50+ for one meal.
You have to remind yourself that even in LA Las Vegas Dubai etc a regular Korean BBQ won’t cost you this much just for a plate of...
Read moreI am just returning from Japan and Korea… and it was not my first visit to that part of the world. I can humbly say that I know Korean cuisine (and prepare it at home) but the Duenjang Chigue that I just had was nothing resembling Korean. It rather a vegetable stew (onions and zucchini) in a fish stock with a few cubes of Tofu to make believe! Appetizers were worse than what I had expected with calamari that was quite crunchy cause it was not properly washed… some European potato salad with mayo and apples, and a bite of tofu and kimchi. It is a place that would be perfect for gringos to pretend they had exotic Korean if they never tasted it in their lives to end up paying 1000 Peso Uruguayo for a stew, rice and non alcoholic beer! The photos on IG would look nice though. An utter disappointment and at least, now I know to never step foot...
Read moreThe food was ok but rather expensive. You can get good Korean for the same price in NYC. The difference is that in New York they will give you unlimited quantities of a very important thing that you need when eating very spicy and salty food: TAP WATER. Yes, we ordered water “de la canilla” and the server said he was not allowed to serve it. It turns out the owner has decided to make money by denying TAP WATER to customers. Apparently most people just let that happen with no consequences. So if you are going to review this restaurant, don’t forget to tell the owner that serving free tap water should be mandatory,...
