The hotel situates right in the center of the Bukhara city. It is very convenient as there are restaurants and convenient stores nearby. The Labi-havz complex is just outside the hotel. ||||The staff of the hotel is very friendly and helpful. They can speak good english and there is no problem to communicate with them.||||There is no choice for breakfast. Every day you have nan, pancake, yogurt, juice, egg, sausage, cheese, tea and coffee, which are served by a very nice lady. ||||I stayed in room 5, which is on the second floor facing the Labi-havz complex. The room is generally clean. Nevertheless, the washroom has irritating smell which is common in other hotels in Uzbekistan (I believe it is from the drains of the bath-tube and the sink caused by poor drainage design). Also, the room has no kettle, but you can ask for hot water from the reception. WiFi is free and the reception is acceptable. ||||One critical drawback is the noise from the restaurant near the pool. The live band will sing until eleven something at night. So think twice if you want quiet environment or...
Read moreThe ASL Hotel looked decent at first, with a modern reception area and clean floors. I thought our luck was turning around—until we saw the room. The first option had grimy walls, dingy towels, and two twin beds that looked like they’d seen better days. Plus, the room faced the plaza, where every noise from honking cars to barking dogs came straight through the thin windows.
Seeing the disappointment on our faces, the receptionist quickly offered a second room upstairs. But this one was mid-renovation, with a strong odor of new carpet off-gassing and no heat to speak of. It was as bare as a storage unit, with nothing but four plain walls and a bed.
When I asked why we had been sent here, the receptionist confessed that our original hotel had been overbooked, and this was all they could offer. Frustrated, I called the tour organizer, who was equally upset and quickly booked us another room down the street. So, once again, we hauled our luggage out and continued our unplanned tour of...
Read moreI'd agree with all the favourable comments about the hotel-room, décor, staff, excellent breakfast etc so wanted to highlight instead the advantageous position it's in-apart from the square just outside the door 9which is great for people watching and seeing all the vibrant local life, there's much within a few minutes' walk||||Just turn left out the hotel and there are small convenience stores, a bookshop, then further along the street lots of souvenir shops-some of excellent quality and beautiful displays (e g of calligraphy).||||However, don't neglect the alleys! There are a few surprises there again just minutes away from the hotel-my own favourite was the puppet workshop which is open at varying times but because it's entrance is down the lane can easily be overlooked.||||So you couldn't do better than book the ASL. It's only (very minor) drawback is that the breakfast room is in the basement and can feel a bit cramped if the hotel is very busy-but please don't let that...
