There were pros and cons with our stay at the hotel. It is a family run place and not exactly a hotel. It is 2 minute walk from Lyabi Hauz, which has restaurants and souvenir shops, and you can pretty much walk to all the tourist attractions from here. But it is in a very quiet street with no noise, and it was very safe walking in that street. The breakfast is pretty ok with eggs, cheese, pancakes, bread, fruits, tea or coffee. It is not a buffet and the family will serve you, so you need to give them time to get the breakfast ready. They do pick up/drop from train station for a fee, and also help you with tours outside Bukhara. We did get daily bottles of water during our stay, we just had to ask the front desk. The front desk is always not manned since the hotel is run by a father and his two sons. So if they are busy then there is nobody at the front desk. When that happened, we went to the kitchen to ask the ladies there who called them on the phone. The sons speak English and the father also partly can speak some English. The family who runs it is really nice.||The first day we checked in at 10pm, the air conditioning was not running. It was tiresome to complain and then change the room at night when we had opened our suitcases. The whole thing took an hour and we were exhausted. We did not have an issue with A/C in our second room. But I did not have hot water one day in the morning for shower and water suddenly stopped because electricity goes off for some time in the morning daily. We had to call out and tell them and they were able to get the water running again. ||The place does not have an elevator like most of the hotels/homestays in the Old Town but they will help you with the luggage up and down the stairs, so it was fine for us. We did not want room cleaning all the three days of our stay so cannot comment on it. The ladies in the family do the cleaning and if you need anything then you can just ask them for it. The room did have a kettle in it, cannot remember if it had a locker. The room was pretty clean too. Overall the hotel...
Read moreAfter being picked up by the owner of the Samani Hotel at the railway station we were quickly shown to our room after check in! Located upstairs, our very clean 3 bedded room overlooked the inner courtyard. With a fully working air conditioning and comfortable beds and our spacious room with private shower etc proved to be ideal with the 30°+ temperature during our visit. ||Nothing was too much trouble for "Faro" in excellent English and after a hearty breakfast it was only 2 minutes walk to the centre of the old part of town! For lunch and evening meals there are many restaurants and snack bars within easy reach but we found the Mavrigi Restaurant is a great choice as we were not disappointed on any of our 3 visits! Just 5 minutes walk away and don't be put off by the renovation work going on outside, the interior will certainly surprise you as well as the prices on the English menu pleasantly served by Bekhruz!! Certainly the location and service provided by the Samani Hotel couldn't be better to see all Bukhara has to offer.!||I certainly will be back for another...
Read moreThis is a family run establishment run by Mr Faxriddin and family. Prior to our arrival, they had communicated with us to get more details on our arrival and had also arranged pick up and dropped off to and from the airport at a reasonable fee. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and welcome. Room was spacious and clean . Same as the attached bathroom. It was very cold during our stay, as such Khurshid the son provided extra blankets on top of the heater. They are always offering us tea and chat with us and offer us some information. Love the variety of breakfast spread provided. It has a mix of local delicacies as well as western food such as jam, cheese etc. The guesthouse is right in the middle of the Bukhara old town. We walked everywhere. Nice walk with restaurants nearby. Special thanks to both Khurshid and Mr Faxriddin for your warm hospitality and Fakhood for helping us with the transfers. Do remember to get your stay slip upon checking put in case you are required to show the authorities when leaving...
