I'm sorry for this review because the staff is nice and helpful, but sadly this hotel is beyond any salvation. I don't even know where to start... The bathroom is TERRIBLE. As you can see from the picture is barely big enough to fit one standard sized person. The hot water takes like ten minutes to get to temperature. The sink tap sprays water everywhere. The toilet brush was broken. At a certain point even the light stopped working (but they changed it afterwards). The toilet paper is awful and, as the tap is broken, water falls on it and it's constantly disgustingly wet. The bathroom's door handle was also broken. Last but not least, the toilet occasionally smells AWFULLY (I guess some issues with the plumbing). That's it about the bathroom. About the room now... When we entered the room there was rubbish in the trash bin. The "minibar" (just a fridge) was not working and empty. We found cobwebs on the ceiling. The room was pretty cold (visited in January), there was an air conditioner-heater but it was noisy and not effective. The bed was not particularly comfortable even: after sleeping on it two nights we got back pain. The room was probably the saddest room I've ever seen, they did not even try to make it look nice. There was just a bed, a desk, a very small cabinet and the not working fridge - not even a decoration on anything (ok, this wouldn't have changed anything, but it added sadness to our discomfort). There is no room service - they did not make up our room nor changed our towels (so don't leave them on the floor hoping to have new ones the next day - all you'll get are wet, dirty towels). All in all it was a total delusion and it's sad because it kinda of ruined our stay in Samarkand. The hotel is also pretty hard to find, as written in other reviews. There are also no fancy things such as a welcome bottle of water, nor complimentary slippers and stuff like that but of course once you check in this will be the last of your problems. There is a water boiler in the room but no tea bags so I still wonder what the boiler was for... The only positive note is the breakfast, which was rich and tasty, and the kindness...
Read moreWe got this hotel/accommodation with an organised round trip in Uzbekistan, it wasn’t our choice, we were very disappointed whit it. Our room/ my bed was exactly above the main entrance, so when some guests came in the Hotel, just shout the entrance door... you can imagine... We couldn’t sleep, room and bathroom was dirty looking, used and old. There were literally two persons as a stuff in the hotel, so lots of time there was nobody at the front desk for long time. When we want to ask something we had to chase the invisible guys who had a very limited English, and otherwise just didn’t care. Location of the hotel is not good, long walk in the pitch dark streets to get to the Registan.|Otherwise this area is safe at evening/night.|Not recommend this hotel, we had excellent, beautiful hotels in other cities in Uzbekistan.|This one wasn’t...
Read moreGreat hotel with understated elegance and a real touch of luxury. On my recent trip to Uzbekistan, I stayed in several different affordable hotels and guest houses, Hotel Caravan Serail was by far the best one. The cost per night was a little higher than the other places that I stayed but boy what a difference a few extra euros made! The room was super clean and elegant. The bed is very comfortable. Everything was very well maintained. The staff too were excellent, there was a slight mixup with my room initially, but it was dealt with very quickly and professionally. I would highly recommend this hotel as a great option for an affordable place to stay and if I ever visit Samarkand again, I would definitely book this hotel without hesitation. I only stayed one night but wish I had been longer. Oh, the breakfast is...
