What NOT to expect from a 5-star hotel with a 4.9 google rating (more than 8000 reviews): 1. Close to 2 hours delayed check-in 2. Dirty room at arrival with i) pubic hair in the bathtub, ii) hair/dirt in the sink, iii) dirty towel and bed linen, and iv) hair on the couch 3. Below average breakfast, dry food, chaotic service with severe understaffing and broken chairs 4. Constant tourbuses blocking the main entry making it difficult/impossible for other Grab cars to come to the main entrance 5. Dead bug under the pillow after the bed linen was changed 6. Employees over-promising and constantly under-delivering, spouting complete nonsense all the time (read more about Louis below) I want to talk a bit more about Louis. When checking out we found a dead bug under the pillow (bed linen was changed the day before). We brought this to the lobby as feedback and was met by Louis. He apologised and promised that if we give Melia another chance in the future he will personally make sure that our stay is perfect. As compensation I asked for the hotel to order us a cab to the airport later that day. I made it clear several times that we have a lot of luggage and that we are travelling with a baby so we need a big 7-seater car - to which he kept nodding and promising he would fix that. When we arrive back at the hotel to leave for the airport Louis had (surprise surprise) not ordered a big car, but a small sedan. Due to short time we had to stuff our luggage in the backseat - not an ideal situation with a baby! This is the same guy that promised to make sure our next stay with Melia would be perfect. Well, if you can’t remember to book the correct car (4 hours after promising it) how the hell can you promise something like that? Complete BS from the staff! I normally don’t want to single out and employee, but that incident really stood out to me. Is this how you train you employees? To just say a lot of stuff and promise things they can’t deliver on? FYI, to any other readers I suspect that the google rating here might “fake”. A lot of 5 stars with little to now text other than a name such as «Anne» or «Helen». I suspect the horde of Korean tourists are incentivised to give this a 5-star rating without actually meaning it. In my opinion this hotel does not deserve such a high rating!!

Quoting the intro to another review below as i am sitting in room during my current stay… “For being a 5 star luxury hotel, the service left much to be desired.” Let me start by saying this, I am ok with opening my own door… but the experience from this location from the start was a bit off. Visually the hotel gives a Lux-vibe, the services and amenities, not quite. We arrived early on the day of our check-in. We had last minute adjustments to our plans of arriving to DaNang due to missing luggage which delayed us a day. We asked if it was possible to check in early due to having to make a wedding. We were asked to step aside as they checked availability. We were more than willing to pay and upon review they let us have the option of upgrading our booking from suite to panoramic view suite. Finally we come to an agreement to update our 2 night stay to the panoramic suite and was able to check in early. Upon returning from the wedding we ordered some food. For a suite with a kitchenette and no cookware/ utensils is odd. Had to pay a fee for those, which we did. Then noticed on the TV stand some special promotions. “Upgrade to panoramic view suite get a free massage”. I go downstairs only to find out, THEY had made a mistake in upgrading us and said they only charged us the upgrade fee for one night… Ok… how is that the customers fault when our booking is clearly for 2 and that was stated when charging the card and booking this morning upon check in. Then deny the service of the free massage ($40usd value verse the $130usd upgrade charge for apparently “one night”) I would also like to add no where on that paper or their website does it say it is required to have minimum 2 night booking upgrade or any minimum, just upgrade. This is a money grabbing hotel far from 5 star luxury. Also the brown splatter across the lamp shades and closet really adds to the luxury appeal. Panoramic view of a construction site, if it weren’t for the wedding I would have spent my money elsewhere.

I stayed at Melia Vinpearl Danang Riverfront for 3 nights in June with my mom, and we had a lovely experience overall. The hotel offers a beautiful view of the Han River, and while there isn’t much immediately around the area except for Vincom Plaza Mall, the location still felt convenient and peaceful. The hotel itself is a clean and modern 5-star property with a spacious, elegant lobby and large, comfortable rooms. One of the highlights of my stay was the spa—the massage I had here was one of the best I experienced during my trip to Danang. Truly relaxing and well worth it. The outdoor pool was another favorite. It has a perfect depth for swimming, a stunning river view, and fun floaties available for guests. I also appreciated that they have an indoor pool. One tip: there aren't many sunbeds, so I recommend going early. I loved starting my morning with a swim before breakfast—it was the perfect way to begin the day. The only downside was during check-in. The staff didn’t explain that breakfast could be enjoyed on the 3rd floor at a much nicer restaurant with windows and a great view. Instead, we had breakfast on the M floor (main level), which had no windows and felt less inviting. The food at both locations was great, but the overall dining experience on the 3rd floor was far better. We only discovered it on the last day, which was a bit disappointing—I wish we had been informed earlier. Despite that small hiccup, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend Melia Vinpearl Danang Riverfront to others. Great views, excellent spa, lovely pool, and a relaxing, high-quality experience overall.

Absolutely Not Recommended

We stayed with both children and elderly family members. While the location were decent, everything else was far below expectations. Here’s a breakdown of the issues we faced: No luggage assistance was provided — not even help bringing bags to the room, which you’d expect at this price point and rating. The room door didn’t close properly unless slammed shut — more like a cheap motel than a supposed five-star hotel. Despite booking together, one of our rooms was placed on a completely different floor with no effort to accommodate us. We paid extra for a “horizon view,” but it was completely blocked by a nearby condo building. There was no value in the upgrade. The first room we were given had constant vibrations in the ciling, likely from machinery above. It was unbearable. When we complained, the staff just reassigned us to another room without any explanation or apology — a completely mechanical, indifferent response. The elevators are outdated and painfully slow. There are too few for the number of guests, and simply going out and returning to the room took an unreasonable amount of time. The bathroom had a strong sewer smell coming from the drains. The fridge door didn’t close properly, and water was dripping out. When we reported it, the response was, “We’ll clean it.” Only after explicitly asking them to fix it did they say they’d “look into it.” The attitude was passive and unhelpful. A staff member who came to handle a request walked around the room barefoot in sneakers — unhygienic and unacceptable. Afterward, they were loudly making personal calls in the hallway, which was shockingly unprofessional for any hotel, let alone a five-star one. Used dishes and leftover food were left in the hallway for extended periods, attracting bugs. This created a very unhygienic environment.

Above all, the overall attitude of the staff was the most disappointing. Instead of offering service and care, they acted as if every issue was an inconvenience. Their approach felt mechanical, indifferent, and lacking any real hospitality. For a hotel that markets itself as five-star — or even just a branded hotel — the basic level of service was...

I stayed at Meliá Vinpearl Danang Riverfront and overall it offered an outstanding experience blending luxury with convenience.

Location & Views

The hotel boasts an enviable riverside location—just a few minutes’ walk from iconic landmarks such as Dragon Bridge and the Han River Bridge, and adjacent to Vincom Shopping Mall . Many guests rave about the spectacular panoramic views of the river and city, especially from the upper-floor rooms .

Accommodations & Comfort

The rooms are modern, spacious, and meticulously clean. Several reviews highlight comfortable bedding, solid water pressure, and thoughtful housekeeping—even twice daily . While most stays were flawless, one guest noted some wear and tear—like signs of aging in room fittings .

Amenities & Facilities

The hotel excels in its amenities. It features both indoor and rooftop/outdoor pools, a spa with sauna and Jacuzzi, a gym, and a children’s play area . The rooftop "infinite" pool offers breathtaking views, especially during events like fireworks displays . Dining offerings are extensive, with multiple restaurants serving both buffet and à la carte options, and beautiful riverside views in places like Han River Restaurant .

Service & Staff

Service is a highlight. Guests repeatedly mention friendly, attentive, and proactive staff who go the extra mile—whether arranging tours, upgrading rooms due to construction noise, or sending lost items promptly .

Highlights & Minor Drawbacks

Highlights:

Panoramic views—especially from river-view or panorama rooms—are frequently described as unforgettable .

Fantastic amenities, clean pools, and a well-equipped gym make the hotel feel indulgent and relaxing .

Great location for exploring Da Nang landmarks .

Minor concerns:

Some guests found the buffet area crowded, particularly during breakfast rush .

Guests reported construction noise nearby—though many were compensated with room upgrades or used white noise to mitigate disturbance .

A few mentioned unclear charges for spa facilities like sauna and jacuzzi, which were previously complimentary—causing...
