Marguerite Hotel — Hotel in Da Lat City

The hotel couldn't be in a better location, and it couldn't have been better value for money: I had a very nice room for a very reasonable price. But for me, these advantages were outweighed by the noisy other guests in the hotel. Apparently when a Vietnamese person rents a hotel room, he thinks he rents the entire hotel - and proceeds to make noise as if he were at home. The family of five in a room down the hall from me had their door open and were screaming and shouting until 1am, at which time I went to their room and shouted and cursed at them. They got my point and shut up. But the next morning it started all over again. I checked out of the hotel the next day, five days ahead of schedule, and moved to another hotel. But, well, that didn't help - because this noise-making appears to be a characteristic of Vietnamese hotel guests in general. It's hard to blame the hotel for the noise made by their guests, but as a guest of a hotel, if I can't sleep, I'm not going to stay there. I suppose the only solution is for hotels to put their Vietnamese guests on separate floors from their foreign guests. Anyway, the hotel has potential - if it can get its noise problem...

I started writing a long review, phone battery went flat, so have decided to keep it brief.||Raining in arrival so pretty much ran in and booked. Receptionist wanted cash for nights accom and wanted to keep passport. Receptionist not at all welcoming, like you get in all VietNam hotels. No air con, wanted cash for following 2 nights as money machine was apparently broken - told her we were low on Dong, so on last night got her to use machine for my loaded cash card😠. One Bell boy friendly but smoked all the time. Afternoon receptionist nice but under the thumb from grumpy one. Rooms damp and badly designed bathroom with shower toilet together😠. Spoilt our DaLat stay and we wished we moved, but was busy cramming in activities. Only good thing was location....

Although booking 6 months ahead of time and with correspondence leading up to the day the hotel failed to honour the booking in Expedia. ||The excuse was there was no record of our booking inspite of holding||Arriving late at night after 10:30pm with hotels closing up for the day and in peak period we were left to fend for ourselves unsuccessfully.||We then were put up at our own expense above a karaoke bar.||In all a very unpleasant experience and I would not book this hotel again. ||The breakfast area is a smoking restaurant so it’s...
