OMG! If it was up to me I would have never booked this hotel, but because we were part of a tour group we had no choice, this hotel is what we were met with once transferred from airport. On arrival at reception we were told that our room was not ready and it was late in the afternoon (normal check in time 2pm) - so we had to wait lucky for us as the 1 and only lift in the place is old, small and very slow! With a tour group of approx 15 it took forever to get to our rooms. On arrival to our floor 8th, i stepped out of the lifts to a filthy sight of stained and ruffled carpets which looked like hadn’t ever been cleaned since it was laid in 1970. On entering the room I had to look twice and rub my eyes, I thought i was back in my grandmothers house, with very old furniture, ugly wall paper and a mattress as hard as concrete. Don’t look out the window all you see is more ugliness plus there are no safety screens on the windows or protection from bugs etc. I went to wash my hands in the hand basin and the hot water was so damn hot I burnt my self this is dangerous! The shower (over bath) well what a joke we all joked about it on our tour bus amongst us, you needed to be shorter than 4 foot to wash yourself as the hand held shower head was so low some of our tour group said they were on their knees to shower - Not acceptable!!! The room was so yuk i had to get out of there and go walking away from the place, just on that not close at all to the hustle of markets and restaurants, to give you an idea we took a rickshaw ride which took 25 minutes (in traffic ) to get anywhere decent, this place is far. The next morning for breakfast you have to take the lift to the 11th floor and then walk 2 flights of stairs to the 12th floor to get to the “restaurant” - this is not good for anyone with mobility issues, we had a lady in our group that couldn’t climb the stairs so therefore went without no other option provided for her, the food was not good, cold french fries gross 🤮 cold mashed potato & other hot food i wouldn’t touch it all looked terrible, the only good thing was the omelette station where we could get a fresh cooked item, the bad part also it gets very busy first thing around 630-7 as lots of people checking out /|going on tours so when we arrived one morning there was nowhere to sit other than the small section at back which is Japanese style and you have to sit on the floor like why ??? They should change this area to regular seating so there is enough tables for all. I only positive thing i could say about this place is the ladies working at front desk did try to help us with directions despite their lack of English skills, the rest of the hotel is just not good! I am surprised that an Australian tour company would put their customers in such a run down / dirty place (i have made them aware of this ) |Overall I am sure you could find far better places for less $$ to stay. Don’t stay here unless you’re happy with...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed at Moon View Hotel twice as part of our tour package and during our stay in Hanoi in April 2019. Unfourtantly, we were not impressed by the staff, service or location.||||Upon arrival, after an exhausting day, we were provided with average service and with the wrong room key card. We were then presented with the wrong bedding layout in the room. The first set of rooms we were provided with during our first stay was quite large but outdated and dark. When we asked if a package had arrived from our tour company (as informed by the tour group) the guy at the desk was unhelp and told us that it was not their problem. They also kept our passports from us when we arrived to photocopy and informed us they would provide it later. As a tourist, this is always an uncomfortable experience. We had no help with our luggage upon arrival or departure by the hotel.||||During our second stay with the tour, the room provided was slightly more modern. However, the service again was average. The guy at the reception had an attitude problem. He was unhelpful and grumpy when asked a question. The location itself was quite far and walking distance from the...
Read moreOnce again there should be a rating between Average and Very Good, as this is what I would rate the Moon View. The staff were nice and the rooms are a good size and clean, we only ate breakfast at the hotel and the buffet selection was very good indeed. The location is on a very busy street especially when school is finishing, but there are handy things around such as an ATM right next door and some good eateries and small convenience stores close. One really baffling thing was the roof top bar, well it's an outdoor area on the roof with a small bar inside, that does not really want to be a bar. The view at night is fantastic but attempts to get a drink were given up after one beer as they only had 3 in the fridge and there were 3 people who wanted one. Asking for a white wine resulted in being offered Gin and a return visit 2 nights later saw the place locked up prior to 9.30pm. It's a shame as I believe it is something they should really promote. Perhaps taking a small cooler bag and getting a few beers from one of the convenience stores and get up the roof about 7pm might be...
