Hotel: I was impressed with the organisation of the staff at check in. I was given information about breakfast, check out, wifi, a map, hotel card, spa details and local activities provided without having to ask… just what you need when you arrive in a new city, they really thought of everything!
I had three different rooms at Hong Ngoc across my time in Hanoi and they were all clean and comfortable with everything you would expect to find in a hotel room.
Unfortunately I was really disappointed by the room service. I called to order a dish under the “Noodle Soup” section and had to be transferred three times to be told that this actually means stir fry and that they do not do noodle soup and that there is an updated menu. I asked for an updated menu to be brought to my room and selected a new dish. A few minutes later I received a phone call informing me that they were not able to make this dish… I gave up went elsewhere for dinner.
Spa: I had a wonderful whole body massage at the on site spa with a friendly and professional therapist. I also received a discounted rate as a guest at the hotel which was a lovely bonus. I felt that the spa itself could use some work in the way of presentation with staff belongings, drinks, boxes and bottles of water scattered throughout my massage room… not really up to standard with...
Read moreI stayed here as part of an Intrepid group tour so I didn't book this place by choice. The staff were inconsistent with their help and communication. When I went to breakfast the choices were poor and not a great range of things. Some foods didn't seem fresh. The first day I didn't even realise I could order eggs, such as an omelette, as the staff didn't mention it. I found out by seeing a sign on another table. Second morning i ordered an omelette which took 25 minutes to arrive and asked for it to be well done, and it was still very runny inside with no fillings. The staff didn't ask me what fillings I wanted and I incorrectly assumed it would come with something else besides egg inside (my error). I didn't finish it.
Rooms have no soundproofing. I could hear everything in the other rooms, even someone's flatulence (not kidding), amongst other things. Room didn't have a chair, or a mirror besides the bathroom one, or something to put your luggage on. The basics.
Would not recommend and definitely wouldn't stay here again. Go to the old quarter instead (Grand...

One of the major issues I encountered was the inadequate noise isolation in the rooms. Throughout the night, I could hear clear conversations, footsteps, and other disturbances from neighboring rooms, the hallway, and the street outside, which greatly disrupted my sleep and left me feeling frustrated. I can even hear someone screaming in the hallway at 11 pm.
Adding to the inconvenience, there were no power outlets conveniently located near the bed. This oversight made it difficult to charge devices or use them while in bed, which is a basic expectation for modern accommodations.
The hotel ruined my wonderful experience in Hanoi. I’ve stayed at two different hotels in the Old Quarter right before this with similar ranges but lower price points, and they both are a lot more satisfactory...
