I would like to thank the hotel that became my home for one night in Hoi An.
The hotel is called “Little Gem” — and it truly is a real gem in this city.
The atmosphere was very cozy: a large buffet breakfast, a swimming pool that looked especially beautiful at night with the lights on, a modest but tastefully designed gym, a wonderful pond with real colorful koi fish in the lobby, a comfortable room, and a breathtaking view from the window. The room had complimentary water and tea, as well as a minibar with very delicious dried mango (for an additional charge). Also, there was an excellent hair dryer and hair conditioner provided. And at breakfast, I tried the most delicious muffin of my life. I definitely recommend it to everyone!
Of course, there were a few small downsides: a colony of tiny ants tried to steal my free sugar; my toilet got clogged, but I managed to fix it myself (it felt very awkward to ask reception for help). The free bicycles, although new, were very uncomfortable to ride. In room 504, above the complimentary tea area, one of the lightbulbs needs to be checked. Not all staff members seemed equally engaged, though most of them were very friendly. But overall, these were just minor inconveniences compared to the positive experience.
There were also staff members I would like to highlight separately:
Peter / Phi – an incredibly, fantastically kind receptionist (to be honest, I don’t know his exact position). If you take all the kindness and willingness to help in this world and multiply it by 1000 percent, it still wouldn’t come close to Mr. Phi. I have never met anyone so passionate about caring for guests. Thank you so much for your kindness and for making the world better through your work! I wish you great success in your career. Thuy – from the laundry service. I got caught in the rain the day before leaving, and my clothes didn’t dry overnight. In just a couple of hours, she returned them looking as if I had just bought them from the store — perfect condition. Mrs. Thuy - simply a magician. Becky / Chau – … I think I understand why the hotel is called “Little Gem” — maybe it’s because of her. Honestly, I thought she was the boss of the place: a true extra-class professional (and I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world). I have never met such an attentive and competent hotel staff member before. She solved issues instantly, making my stay maximally comfortable. A true example of hospitality. Miss Chau, so small, delicate, yet incredibly energetic. It’s people like these who truly turn a hotel into a treasure.
Recommendations: it would be great if there were an umbrella in the room, because I only found out by chance that umbrellas are available in the hotel. In the shower room on the 7th floor, it would also be useful to add some hooks for clothes and towels. Please add the option for free cancellation: plans and life circumstances can change, and this is a very necessary option.
Thank you very much. For everything.
P.S. I don’t usually write reviews, but in this case, I simply couldn’t leave without...
Read moreSo far, this has been the best place I’ve stayed in Vietnam!
The hotel is clean, the food is great, including the breakfast, the room had great air conditioning, the bar had wonderful drinks (there iced tea, ginger drink, with fresh ginger was exactly what I needed), and the rooftop pool is lovely.
First off, the staff is just exceptional. The young woman that greeted us (Ella) spoke English well and had an inviting and friendly personality. She had us sitdown and served us cold drinks as she checked us in.
Same goes for our check out, the young woman (Jenny) was almost a replica, in a good way, of the woman who checked us in - friendly, good English, outgoing…
We were also able to use WhatsApp to speak to the sales person (Selena) to book the room and if we had questions or problems.
Speaking of problems, we ended up losing the key to our Motorbike, pretty late on a weekend night, but Selena and the receptionist Ryan both helped us resolve the situation. I later came to find out that Salena was sleeping when I sent her the message, so I can’t tell you how impressed I was with her service.
For breakfast, you’ll get a really good variety buffet plus they have a omelette chef, who made me a great omelette.
Two things to know: even though the rooftop bar closes pretty early, you can still use their bat phone (the phone in the box) to order food and drinks from downstairs, and they’ll bring it up to you, which was awesome!
Also, their gym is really small, it legitimately can only fit about 2 to 3 people and MAKE SURE you turn on the air conditioner. I found people working out with it off, so I did both of them and I a solid and turned that thing on.
Lastly, I just wanna give a shout out to all the other staff, I met, bartender, waitress, etc… And especially to their manager, Shawn, for running an exceptional little hotel in Hoi An.
Thank you so much - I hope to be back soon.
P.S. So my friends just went there, and they told us that if you stay several days, you get this really beautiful tea service included with your stay. They sent me a picture, it...
Read moreLike the name this hotel really is a gem of a place. Having a series of bad stays in our trip to Vietnam, this place really has been the best stay we've had. So good in fact we decided to extend our stay by one night. This place is really worth every penny and facilities have been fantastic. It's been really nice staying in a place where there is hot running water 24/7. The room was very clean and the housekeeping attended to it every single day! The beds were super comfy and we have had some of the best sleeps on this trip at Little Gem.
We attended the cooking class at the hotel with chef Yaki and it was fantastic. He took us to the local market which was 10 minutes away, on our bikes that was provided by the hotel. He made us try the local delicacies and they were delicious. We were welcomed back at the hotel with a refreshing drink and we proceeded with the cooking class. The ingredients were all laid out perfectly and we were excited to begin. Chef Yaki explained all the ingredients and methods needed to prepare the lovely dishes. We made fresh spring rolls, deep fried spring rolls and banh xeo: it was a delicious meal. The price was comparable to the other cooking classes in the area, so it's a must do activity!
The food at Little Gem was delicious. Breakfast had a great spread which included Vietnamese cuisine, selection of pastries, fresh fruits and continental breakfast. You can guarantee you would leave the hotel full, ready to explore exciting Hoi An. We also tried the set menu for 2 people. The food once again was so flavourful and tasty, the stewed pork with caramel was to die for!
All the staff were extremely friendly and very attentive. We want to specially mention Zoe; She was really cute and super cheerful. We really enjoyed all our conversations with her and she made us feel so at home and made sure we were okay at all times. This girl really does go above and beyond she really is a gem and an asset to your establishment, keep her at all costs.
Thank you Little Gem for an...
