Out of all the many restaurants dotted along the Thu Bon riverside on Huyen Tran Cong Chua, the Phan Gia Riverside Restaurant has to be one of the better ones (best in my opinion). It has the same seating arrangements as all the others, with shaded riverside tables outside and indoor tables. They also have very friendly, courteous staff, but the food served here seems to be a lot better than all the others. (Noteworthy is that all the other restaurants serve good food too....I have yet to have a bad meal riverside yet, and I've tried most of them). I find Phan Gia's food to be the best, comparatively speaking. Their menu has a large variety of Vietnamese foods (including local dishes), some vegetarian dishes, a good selection of Western foods (for the less adventurous), and even a few desserts. The beverage selections compliment their food selections, with alcoholic (beer, house wine, spirits, and cocktails), non-alcoholic (soft drinks, juices, milkshakes and mocktails) and coffee/tea varieties. Their food prices are about the same as the other riverside restaurants (some dishes cheaper and some a little more expensive), but I found through my experiences that their portion sizes are larger, and the food quality and tastes are superior. One of the biggest positives is their home-made Chili Jam that they offer as an accompaniment to their main meals....it's sensational, to say the least!! My past experiences have been just as good as tonight's, indicating that they are consecutively great (not a one-off great experience). Tonight, I tried their Bun Xao Phuc Kien (Hokkien Mee) at 69k, which was a generous portion, very flavoursome and faultless, and a Banana Split (trio of icecream with chocolate syrup and crushed peanuts) at 69k for dessert. I've tried several of their other dishes upon my past visits (Cao Lau, Nem Lui, My Quang, Com Chien Thom Tom as examples) and have never been disappointed....and I look forward to trying more of their menu in the near future. I highly recommend Phan Gia Riverside Restaurant for a lovely evening dinner (night time is so much cooler riverside) Lunch can be a bit hot/humid - but they do have shade and provide fans if you do visit during the daytime. Update....I've been eating here for over 2 weeks and have yet to be disappointed with any of the dishes I've ordered. I'm slowly eating my way through their...

My bf and I indulged at 5-star and Michelin-rated resorts in Vietnam, and the cuisine at this little gem still topped them. The location is right on the water, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the streets, allowing you to enjoy your meal in peace. At night, the lanterns are lit, adding to the ambiance. They have fans to keep you cool. Its a quick walking distance from main market. The service was amazing! The staff was so warming, hospitable, and provided great recommendations. They spoke great English. English translations included in the menu are a thoughtful touch. There was so much variety and everything was delicious! None of the food was questionable (they use fresh shrimp in their fresh rolls...fresh rolls everywhere else were quite fishy. To name a few must try dishes: banana blossom salad, cashew nut chicken, fresh rolls, curry, beef la lot), had great portions, can easily substitute items (many vegetarian options), and the cheapest satiating meal we had on our entire trip. On top of the amazing food, the genuine warmth of the staff left a lasting impression. The food and hospitality of the staff definitely made this one of the highlights of our trip. This place is so good, we kept talking about how we have to write a review so others can...
Read moreI’m really happy that I had the chance to have meal here, the food was delicious 🤤, Customer service was amazing and the view with the boats going along the river bank just made our night perfect. We called and book ahead just so we could have a seat by the river and it was just perfect, the woman who serve us was so nice I believe she the owner ? I forgot to ask for her name, but bless her heart, I have bites all over my leg thinking they’re were mosquitoes bites so she brought me some repellent spray but when she did look she recommended me to go see a pharmacist and i did ! Turns out I’m allergic to the bites ! So thank you chi for your advice !
Back to the food we had summer rolls which was fresh and delicious! Banh xeo which was so flavourful and crispy! And the Cao Lau that was recommended to me and I loved it! The other servers are really nice and help brought out extra fish sauce and a home made chilli sauce! Not to mention the prices of the food is so reasonable!
