This is another very nice Vietnamese restaurant situated on the Thu Bon riverside nearby to the walking bridge to Hoi An Memories. The only reason why I fail to give it 5 stars is due to their noisy neighbours, which inflict their loud dance music upon nearby diners. It's not Pho Xua's fault and is beyond their control, but unfortunately, it is to their detriment. The loud "wanna-be nightclub" neighbours' music creates a disturbance while eating (at times, it is particularly loud....depending on how much alcohol has been consumed)....destroying any comfortable atmosphere. Crazy thing is that these neighbours are sitting right next to their large JBL loudspeaker, so there's no need for such a disturbing volume. That said, Pho Xua provides a nice outdoor setting (pet friendly) plus an indoor section. Their service is friendly, and the choices within their menu are plentiful. The food they serve is tasty, the servings are generous, and the quality is high. The prices are very similar to all of their adjacent competitors....so, very reasonable and quite inexpensive (comparative to those based in Hoi An Old Town). It's definitely worthy of a try and if you're lucky (or early), you'll avoid the noisy, inconsiderate neighbours....lunch is guaranteed to be quiet as the music seems to only be a...
Read moreTotaly tourist trap... First of all- Im into gastro and I know how meals which I ordered taste. (Of course in many variations and styles.) My order was bánh xeo, fried wontons and Bo la lot. First wontons- Crisps with old tomatoes and one freezed so tiny little shrimp. ... Walter said that meat and mashrooms are inside and show us little (max 1x1cm) pocket in which half of it was air and second half some weird looking mash. After few seconds He said that they bought it and other meals Will be better. Only Bo La lot. That was fine. But after the Bang xeo came. Ohhhh... Sooo bad. Inside of bad pancake was only 1 same poor shrimp and dinky mote of pork meal. Other fill was only A lot ofmungos.
Terrible.
I dont know how in that time it could have that high rating... That was So bad. Waiter tried to protect those meals but it is impossible. He is kind. And place near by water is nice. But I was here for dinner. Price and quality- awful.
Update: answer for owner This is not about the taste. Its about to make it properly. And Its normal that customer does not pay for the bad meal which he does not ate. And we only tried wonton. Tried, not ate. Dont try to switch it and appeal to feelings. Its bad work...
Read moreHave eaten here twice. Both meals were good, my first was Cao Lao noodles with pork. Very nice dish that is local to Hoi An. Had the fried spring rolls and they were very good with great dipping sauce. Bo La Lot was not great, edible but not what I was expecting as there were no spices in the meat, again the dipping sauce was very good. Second meal was Bun Thit Nuong and white roses for appetizer. White roses were very good with more of the killer dipping sauce. Bun Thit Nuong was different than Saigon style in that they put peanut sauce in it. That was a new twist, added a richness to it that isn't there with Saigon style. The pork was amazing, nicely cooked, juicy and had a nice smoke flavor to it. My buddy had the Banh Xeo, I tried one and it was excellent! 430ml Saigon beer is 25k long, best deal on the river and far better than in old Town. Service is good and the folks who run it are very sweet. All in all, a great place to enjoy some Hoi An specialties, have a cold one or three and watch the tour boats parade up and...
