Cafe Maruthi felt like a little taste of India wrapped in warmth and soul.

The moment I opened the menu, I smiled — not only because of the variety of Indian snacks and flavorful curries, but also because of the surprisingly fair prices, compared to other Indian restaurants in the area.

I tried a few snacks and a main dish, and everything was full of spices, heart and home. The atmosphere was peaceful, the music subtle, and the staff kind — the kind of place where you feel welcome to stay a bit longer than expected.

Cafe Maruti in Hội An is an oasis for Indian travelers craving authentic vegetarian food. I visited the restaurant after reading glowing reviews and was not disappointed. I ordered a Veg Thali that came with roti, dal, rice, sabzi, papad, and dessert. Every element on the plate was rich in flavor and freshly cooked. The staff were polite and attentive, offering personalized suggestions. Their masala chai was strong and warming, the perfect end to a hearty meal. I went there tonight and ordered a takeaway. 45 minutes later a watery sort of soup and a greasy undercooked so called garlic naan which was sadly lacking in garlic came out. There was never more than 10 people in the restaurant some getting the pizza which was a different cook. The excuse given for my way less than average food was cook was busy. I wish I’d walked out. No one said anything about long wait time till I started asking after 30 minutes. The order was not cheap and what I got was way less than average. I wont be back . Plenty more good Indian...
