Longan Homestay — Hotel in Hội An

I am still in room 202 when I am writing this review. Honestly anyone could not be any more mistaken when booking this homestay. Because it is amazing.

Location : Hoi An is a little bit expensive compared to Da Nang due to its status. So Longan is a gem that I found. It is located right 30 steps from the entrance to the old town. Literally, the hotel is tucked just one small street away which is SUPER CONVENIENT. The happening things happen there and I am 20secs away. Longan also located just 100m from a convenience store. And there are many local eateries around. Step outside from the old town where food is 120K per plate, Longan area has the same food for 50K.

Host : The lovely couple hosting us were super helpful in any way possible. Whenever I text thru Booking, he made sure to reply in less than 2 hours. Airport transfer costs tourists north of 350K. But book directly from the hostel, it costs me 280K FIXED. No need to be worried and negotiate anything. Their service are top notch.

Services : Motorcycle rental in the city can go as high as 150K for manual and 250K for automatic. Guess what, Longan let us rent from the homestay for 100K per day automatic. And the motorcycle is super decent.

Room : It is a house converted to homestay due to limited hotel availability in the town so they can preserve the UNESCO status. However the house is clean. The room is surprisingly spacious. AC works well and bathroom is big. Hot water running perfectly. Soft mattress and duvet are good as well.

Ambience : It is located in a street tucked in but just too near to the old town. So the magical feeling is preserved. I love everything.

Satisfaction : 100%.

Please do not hesitate to book here. The price is good. The room is excellent. The location is unbeatable. The host is super warm. And dont hesitate to ask anything from the lovely hosts. And I enjoy every little...

We booked a 1-month stay here well in advance (along with a 2-week stay for family during part of our month here). ||||FOUR DAYS before we were due to arrive, they messaged us on New Year's Day saying the hotel was "closed for repairs" indefinitely. It turned out this was a half-lie; it was closed because they sold it (unless that's a lie too... who knows with these people).||||And like... I get it. People sell businesses. But do you seriously have no idea you're going to sell your hotel until literally the very day you do it? If they had cancelled a couple months in advance for that reason, that would be fine. But there's no way they decided to sell and instantly found a buyer with just four days' notice.||||They tried to convince us to move into sketchy possibly non-existent houses really far out of town, oh-so-generously offering not to charge us extra (I should hope not!). We refused, and asked them to cancel and refund the bookings, since they couldn't fulfill them or even offer an equivalent place that wasn't super sketchy. ||||They gave us the runaround for several days, with MORE LIES (claiming that WE had to cancel, which was just an obvious attempt for them not to get penalized by the site we used for booking them). We finally had to get the site we used involved because they just WOULD NOT cancel and refund us.||||By that point, with just a few days' notice, we had to scramble to find another place for a month-long booking over Vietnam's biggest holiday. This homestay really screwed us over; there was nothing left for similar prices in the same area, and we had to move way outside of the downtown area. ||||I'm guessing they'll just claim that I'm lying in this review, since they don't seem to have any particular attachment to the truth.
