2 star hotel.
It was a very basic experience. However, you are in the heart of District 1 for a very affordable price per night.
I thought the location was great. There were many restaurants, bars and coffee shops nearby. If you like shopping, the market and mall are only 5-10 away by foot.
The room sort of looked like the photos on Booking. It was definitely smaller. Older. And, in worse shape. They also photoshopped the windows. The windows on Booking were floor-to-ceiling. The actual windows were half the size.
The room was not clean. It was dusty. Surfaces were sticky. The sink was cracked and did not drain properly. The shower leaked. There were ants crawling on the floor. And, I found other people’s hair on the (inside) sheets.
The room has thin walls. If you do not like listening to the sounds of the city, I would advise bringing earplugs.
I did not like the shower. All the sealant was covered in black mold. The shower did not get hot. The first time I showered I had no issue with the water pressure. But the second and third time, the water stopped mid-shower. It eventually started back up, but within a minute or two stopped again.
The receptionists are nice enough. I asked for an extra (clean) towel and they brought it right up. We received a clean towel every day, but all the towels either had stains or holes (or both). The same with our sheets. They also had stains and holes.
We arrived around noon and they told us we could check in (free of charge), if we cancelled our Booking reservation. If we did not cancel our Booking reservation, we could not check in until 2 PM. I know that Booking charges hotels a percentage per booking, but I did not feel entirely comfortable cancelling my reservation (because 1. we did stay at their hotel and 2. we would not have known about this hotel if it were not...
Read moreI have stayed here a few times over the last year. Honestly I have other preferred neighborhoods l like so never more than 3-4 nights, but i know i can get a good room in a touristy location here and sleep well.
You have to spend some time in Saigon fighting with Agoda, Hotels.com and Airbnb to really appreciate this hotel. Yes, the pictures on Agoda are probably old, but the hotel does the little things right.
The receptionists speak some English.
If you book a specific room type(window, window to internal stairs, high floor etc) that's what you get.
They have never bait and switched me to a different property or tried to add on random fees other hotels try.
The rooms are small, but have separate shower so whole bath not wet, kettle for hot water, small fridge and lots of toilet paper. You'd be amazed how many hotels give you 1/3 of a roll.
So simple place to stay, at the correct price point in a safe area near touristy stuff.
I think the Playstation in the lobby is new, or I just did not notice it...
Read moreRoom is good. Socket under the tv doesn’t work. Rusty soap bar holder in the bathroom. Mystery liquid (idk if it was conditioner or body soap) in an unlabeled bottle. TV couldn’t connect online and when it did, it was slow. Saving grace of the room was the bidet (i live in Japan so this is the first thing I look for in other countries). Saving grace of the hotel was the staff. They were very helpful and friendly.
Walkable to Ben Tanh Market but honestly I don’t recommend walking if you’re used to safer pedestrian crossings overseas. Just a few doors down from numerous coffee shops and massage places/spas.
/edit And they shouted at my friend because there was a misunderstanding regarding the booking. 👀 like dude there’s no need to friggin shout at a paying customer. So they’re nice to you until you’re not...
