Booked via booking.com so ultimately an easy booking process. Even managed to arrange a transport from the airport for us via email which looking back on it must have mustered all their ability. Unfortunately that’s where the pleasantness ends. ||We arrived in HCMC centre and immediately from inside the taxi realised we were at the wrong hotel. The taxi driver, bless him, was as confused as we were. After telling the driver we booked a different hotel he made a phone call and someone appeared at the passenger side window as if he just emerged from the pavement.||Not wanting to keep the taxi driver waiting we let him go and went inside to the dankest, dingiest, dirty and unwelcoming construction site of a hotel reception I’ve seen. It was awful, I could feel my girlfriends heart drop from 10 feet away.||The receptionist/manager/concierge/cleaner/cook/masseur/builder/town crier then explained to us that our original booking at the Hoang Dung had to be moved to this new hotel; Madam Cuc 127. It had been moved because the air conditioning at Huang Dong was broken. The two hotels are apparently owned by the same people. ||Fine, we said but why didn’t you inform us and let us know? - we should have been afforded a choice! He said he didn’t have our email which was rubbish because they’d been communicating with us about airport transfers earlier in the week. Total b*t basically. Just wanted to ensure they got our money and not someone else! Because if we had been offered this hotel via emails we never would have accepted - you couldn’t have paid me to stay there! He insisted that we had been given the “suite”, the best room in the hotel and a “much better” room than what we had originally booked! ||OK! We decided to check out the room; we just wanted to make the most of our short stay in HCMC. The room he took us to was absolutely awful! Dirty and small far below what we had expected from the photos and recommendations of our original booking. Either a Donald-Trumpesque lair or we escaped an even worse fate at Hoang Dung.||We weren’t having it! After going back down to reception to say we wanted a new solution our mate got upset we didn’t want to stay. When we wanted him to cancel the booking so we wouldn’t get charged it took us 30 mins and had to pay in cash for the airport transfer before he would email us in writing that we wouldn’t be charged for “late cancelation” as per booking.com policy. Truly awful hospitality and should really look into a different line of work. ||Stranded without anywhere to stay in HCMC we started to scour last minute websites for hotel bookings. What we found was the bargain of a lifetime! A 4- star hotel, buffet breakfast included, a spa, and rooftop pool with an incredible view of the city - £100 for two nights!! Considerably less than what these clowns were looking to...
Read moreHoang Dung Hotel|Hotel in a good location, in walking distance to many attractions. David and his staff are very friendly and helpful. Small hotel with good sized room. Hotel on busy road but this didnt cause us an issue. Our room didn't have a window but this wasn't a problem for us as we were only there for 3 nights. Clean, quiet room and comfortable bed. Hairdryer, slippers, toiletries, fridge/mini bar, TV and free wifi. The bathroom is quite small but functional. There was an iron and iorning board set up outside our room for anyone to use. This was good but a bit random! The hotel has a roof terrace where breakfast is served each morning (not a massive choice, we mainly had boiled egg, crusty roll and a banana. A washing machine is available on the roof terrace, just hand your washing to the staff and they take care of it for a small fee, they even hang it out to dry for you. Unfortunately the roof terrace is unusable during the evening because the laundered towels and bedding are draped over the tables and chairs to dry which was a shame. The lift went from the lobby to the 6th floor then stairs to the 7th which is the roof terrace. We...
Read moreFirst things first i did not stay at the hotel due to their staff overlook on my booking online however the best part is I got noticed only when I walk to their front desk to check in. face palm The staff told me that she overlook on my booking and offer to walk in guest instead and didn't intend to apologies on their own mistake which makes me disappoint with it I know the room could get a better price to walk in guest due to new year eve but hey where's your fking ethics on this ?? The staff told me to not report them and they will record with the booking state "the customer didn't show up" which i felt its totally BS and tossing the blame on me ? not planning to compensate and no sorry ? how rude is that !! and later they pass me a note with a hotel name and ask me to walk to the hotel for available rooms which took me n my friends wandering around the streets for merely an hour before we saw the hotel, we finally reached a dodgy hotel with no proper security lock for our rooms. What a surprise from Hoang Dung Hotel. Last but not least a...
