Let’s start with the few positive comments in this hostel: the location of the hostel is amazing, and just around the corner of the famous walking street and vibrating night life. The beds are huge, comfortable and clean (a lot of privacy and space, power outlets, reading light,...). The room itself was quite modern (compared to the common areas and bathrooms of the hostel), but a little small, as the beds take up a lot of space. The AC of the rooms where working quite fine too.||Sadly these were the only positive notes about my experience at Kikis House Saigon. ||First of I have to mention that the management and the three volunteers (at the time we stayed there) were completely USELESS. They had no idea of anything. They didn’t seem to care about their hostel guests, but only sat on their phoned the whole day. The minute we arrived, we had the feeling of being unwanted and stared at - they didn’t seem to care to help us finding our way around the hostel, but just be given a judgy stare.||It was also quite hard finding the hostel in the first place, as they didn’t display any signs for the hostel on the main street (the hostel is hidden in a smaller alley). ||The WiFi was not working for the first two nights (we were staying for three) and no one could help us or informed us about it not working - it’s like they didn’t care, as they do not need it anyway. We didn’t have a local SIM card, so we tried using the others hostel wifi from our room. ||The bathrooms were messy (as past guest of the hostel just left their stuff and no one seemed to care to throw it) and not being cleaned - hair, dust and mold everywhere. There is also a limitation of bathrooms in the whole hostel, which makes it uncomfortable finding a unoccupied bathroom (sink, toilet and shower - all in one bathroom). | |The kitchen area is as well messy and not clean. You have to cook your own breakfast and there is only one pan for everyone - so again, you have to wait in line to cook. The area is also quite small and just a complete mess. The breakfast itself is quite simple, but it was fine for us. ||Lastly, I also have to disagree with what the hostel advertises with. Most of their pictures online are of their old location, giving the guest wrong information. There also isn’t the chance to book any kind of activities or tours with the hostel. And based on the unwanted feeling from the staff, we didn’t even bother to ask for any recommendations and booked our tours through another hostel...
Read moreThe worst hostel we have ever stayed in. We arrived mid evening to check in to a 6 bed dorm for our group. On arrival the lady walked the 6 of us up to a 4 bed dorm, to which we had to try and communicate there was 6 of us and only 4 beds. The lady spoke next to no English so this was difficult to explain, eventually she put 2 of the group in a separate dorm and went straight on to demanding payment. We explain we booked online and had paid a circa $30 deposit, and had $186 outstanding. She didn’t understand any of this and just kept repeating $250 which is not the price we booked at. She said this was because we were now in a 4 bed dorm which was more expensive - even though she had put us in the 4 bed because the 6 bed was not ready for us. It was late by this point so we said we would sort in the morning. The following morning we had the same argument about price, we eventually got her to call the owner so we could talk to him, this conversation went well and he agreed the price as we had booked online and Apologised for the issues. We went out for the day and then 2 of the group called and said they had returned to the hostel and the lady had moved all our belongings to a different room, broken into our lockers and moved our valuables to this room as well and demanded we left in 30 minutes because we wouldn’t pay the price agreed with her. We walked back and she kept shouting $250 completely contrary to what we agreed with her boss. The experience was so awful we didn’t argue we just took our stuff and left, after finding out she had stolen 1 of the groups passports from the lockers as well to get us to leave. We walked 100m down the road and stayed in Meraki hotel, a far better experience. Do not stay at Kiki’s. It looks nothing like the photos online, management is completely incompetent and rude, and you can find cheaper better...
Read moreWhat is happening in this hostel ? There is only one person that take care of all the hostel. She doesn't speak english. It was impossible to understand each other. This person is sleeping and living in the reception (the entrance of the hostel), the bed is literally in front of the front door. On hostelworld it is written that there is free breakfast and free laundry. There is absolutly no breakfast (even if you want to pay), and there is no free laudry. If you book through hostelworld the girl that take care of the place will ask you pay everything when you arrive EVEN IF YOU ALREADY PAID THE PREBOOK FEES OF HOSTELWORLD. We booker a full dorm of 6 beds. When we arrived we only had 4 double bed dorm. So the girl even asked us to pay more !!!!! I called the manager, he understood the situation and proposed us the normal price and of course the free breakfasts we asked for (that's the very minimum he could give us I would say). BUT NO IT NEVER HAPPENED, we left for the day and when we came back she told us to leave because she disagree with the decisions of her manager. She put all our stuff (without our permission) out of the dorm, even the computers. And she kept my passport !!! It is illegal !!! We never saw the manager, and he is the only one that speak english. Is he chilling on a beach in Vietnam while the girl taking care of the hostel is treated as a slave ????!! She threatened us to call the police because we didn't want to pay more than the price agreed on the booking site. She kicked us out of the hostel after only 1 night. I did more than 30 hostels in my life, this one is by far the worst. By the way we were not the only ones getting kicked out or cancelling the reservation at the very last moment. A group of 4 British guys we met a few hours later had the same experience. I suggest you to avoid that place...
