OYO 422 Nguyen Thanh Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

We stayed here because it's on a nice street away from the backpacker strip and the price for the room was the best on the street. The lady at reception was really friendly and gave us a choice of 2 rooms, one with a window and one without. We opted for the window room which had a nice view of the street below, however the bathroom smelled very bad. The smell was so strong that we had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times and block our noses whilst going to the toilet. The floor was also dirty, lots of dust and there was a half smoked cigarette butt thrown behind the bed. We've stayed in many budget hotels on our trip however this one was way below average, especially considering its $22 per night. For this standard I would expect to pay a lot less. It's a shame because if the rooms were cleaned properly and the drainage issue sorted out then it could be quite a nice...

It is clean, new, and the staff are nice and accommodating. There is free wifi and the rooms are air conditioned. They have security cameras and, for those with motorbikes, an area to lock them up overnight. The location is convenient without being overcrowded and overly touristy like Bui Vien street. But it's still a convenient walk to Bui Vien and there are always taxis in a queue across the street. There are two 24 hour stores on the block, plenty of restaurants and other hotels, and some services such as salons and massages and coffee shops. It was nothing like on the pictures. It was so disgusting. You could see the place had not been cleaned in a long time. There were so many cockroaches in the room, the toilet sink was disgusting, bed cover was not clean. Towels were given but with yellow stains. And so many more disgusting things. We asked the receptionist if we could change room, but he told us that we can only buy a room more if we want to have a new room. Would never...
