KHAO LAO Vincom Center Landmark 81 — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

We ordered a set for 2-3 people which includes 4 dishes, a portion of sticky rice and 2 drinks for 419k vnd. Food is super delicious 🤤. It's started with 2 drinks of your choice, either 2 cokes or 2 glasses of artichoke tea or 1 of each. Artichoke tea is sweet and sour. It reminds me of the black current juice but less sour. The 1st dish is fried shrimp paste - it is soft and so tasty & crunchy because of the breadcrumbs outside. Papaya salad is served without meat and the flavour is spicy and sour - a bit like Thai food. You can add lemon juice for more sour flavour as you wish. For the pork lard dish, it's served with "lá lốt" leave which is used to wrap the food and the spicy & sour sauce for dipping. The last dish is the fish hotpot served hot in a pot with a candle 🔥 below. The service is quick, we finished ordering, eating and paying within 45-50 minutes (due to the scheduled taxi). Overall, the set is definitely worth the money, and all of the dishes and drink are delicious. The restaurant is located inside a shopping mall so the hot weather won't bother you there 😉. Someone prior mentioned they made a valid effort to make the northern thai food.... yeah, they tried but missed by a large margin. It’s more like Vietnamese food with an effort to put Laos? Or thai? Kind of seasoning on it. Seasoning not even right. In addition, they didn’t have a number of basic dishes available. They didn’t even have any chicken.... how’s that possible. I dined at 7 pm. Early in the night and they ran out of chicken? In the level of restaurant they try to present themselves as, unbelievable.

Service also wasn’t good. They took my dishes to the wrong table. I noticed someone grab food from it and then the server took it from that table and put it on my table when he realized his error. I told him to change it out and he came back literally a minute later with the same food but on a new kind of plate. Haha ridiculous.

This is not our first time at Khao Lao restaurant, the food is very delicious and ambient is impressed. However, today I have to write a very bad comment about the service!!!! In our food we found a long black hair!!!!!! So disgusting!!!! We even ate the food. We called service personnel, they just removed food without any further actions!! Instead of that, they asked us to download the app to get the free dessert!!!! At the moment I thought I was in the wrong movie! How can the staff to provide this "option" for being good to customers!!! I would like to ask Khao Lao management team to provide more trainings to their staff, how to answer the customer in this situation!!!
