A Memorable Anniversary Stay with a Few Hiccups

We recently stayed at Vinpearl Beachfront Hotel Nha Trang for four nights at the end of July 2024 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The experience was largely delightful, with a few minor areas for improvement.

What We Loved:

Location, Location, Location: The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Nha Trang, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. With multiple cafes, spas, and 24-hour convenience stores nearby, everything you need is just a short walk away. The attached Vincom Plaza shopping mall is a bonus for those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy.

Stunning Views: We were fortunate enough to stay on the 35th floor, where our room offered breathtaking sea and beach views from the balcony. It was the perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway.

Exceptional Service: The hotel staff were respectful, proactive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. A special mention to the restaurant manager, who went out of his way to accommodate our dietary preferences by arranging personalized vegetarian sandwiches and margarita pizzas for breakfast. The effort was much appreciated, especially in a region where non-vegetarian dishes dominate the buffet. We had couple of Indian restaurants within walking distance and enjoyed our Dinners there.

Anniversary Surprise: The hotel’s general manager arranged a thoughtful anniversary surprise for us, decorating our room and leaving a fruit platter and cake. It made our celebration extra special, and we are truly grateful for the gesture.

Convenient Amenities: Booking tickets to the Vinpearl Amusement Park at a 20% discount through the hotel was a breeze. The concierge desk also deserves a shoutout for managing our daily shopping bags with ease.

Respectful Staff: A unique and commendable practice at this hotel is that some staff members would remove their shoes before entering our room as a mark of respect. It’s a small gesture, but it left a lasting impression.

Areas for Improvement:

Room Comfort: We did experience an issue with the air conditioning, as the room became uncomfortably warm during the day due to direct sunlight. This is something the hotel should address, particularly for rooms on higher floors.

Housekeeping: While housekeeping was generally good, the balcony was left uncleaned, which was disappointing given the stunning views we wanted to enjoy.

Welcome Drink: A small but noticeable omission was the absence of a welcome drink upon arrival, which would have been a nice touch after a long journey.

Tourist Groups: The hotel frequently hosts large tourist groups, and their buses often block the entrance, making it difficult for other guests to access the hotel by car. Better traffic management could improve this experience.

Language Barrier: While most of the staff were friendly and helpful, we did encounter some challenges with communication due to a few staff members’ limited English proficiency. Additional language training would enhance the overall guest experience.

Bathroom Size: The bath area in our room was quite small, which made it less comfortable than we would have liked.

The room is nice, but the wifi is unusable. Where it gets ugly however is the buffet. We sat down at 7:00 pm and immediately knew something was wrong. The buffet cost 280k VND and was advertised as korean bbq. What I was met with was nothing short of a travesty. The meat selection was poor and the guy in the back had to ask his coworker how to turn on the grill. Red flag! While we we waited for him to grill our food, we tried the hot food which was mediocre and downright bland. Considering the price tag, we were hoping the meat would save the meal. However, it was equally as disappointing. As a final effort, we asked for a bowl of the pho, from the pot by the grill station in order to fill our bellies. Unfortunately we were turned away as it is not available for the dinner buffet. On the whole, if you do not require wifi for your stay, you will enjoy your room. However if you require internet services and somehow are tricked like us into entering the buffet, STAY AWAY!

edit 2: The hotel manager has asked me to take down this review in exchange for free breakfast at the buffet. However, I find it more productive to edit my review to continue my documentation of the events. Later that night, the hotel manager and the chef came to my door with a plate of cake and cut fruits, as well as a free invitation to the morning’s buffet. I was hesitant about the offer given my experience with the previous meal, however I was pleasantly treated to a great meal that was served as advertised (opposed to the kbbq flyer which was a complete scam). The hotel manager was extremely courteous and generous in her service. However, my initial complaints about the kbbq buffet and wifi still stand, and those items must be addressed for me to recommend stay (the wifi especially, just avoid the dinner buffet). Overall, given the amazing amenities, service, and beautiful rooms, I will be updating my rating to 4 stars. I would also like to note that my review sends no direct criticism to the chef nor hotel manager since they were both working with what they were given and offered impeccable service. I will note however that the request to remove my review and the obvious review bombing of 5 star reviews/review reply’s to bury my response was highly unethical. In all, if you do not require wifi services, I highly recommend the Vinpearl Beachfront Nha Trang hotel on the basis of amazing rooms and service.
