We stayed here for 8 nights over Christmas in an effort to get away for a week of relaxation following a few days elsewhere in Vietnam. Being a brand new resort, we booked before there were any reviews and even limited photos so we're a little nervous but it seemed like a great option for the price. On arrival we were so happy with our decision! Set back from the beach, but just a short walk (or free cycle) away, the small collection of rooms and huts is beautifully out together and is of a size that gives it a personal touch. The pool area is great and the landscaping and plants around the whole resort give this a really nice feel. We stayed in one of the rooms set back a little from the pool in a block which was incredible value over Christmas. The room itself was very spacious with everything we needed and put together to a high standard, as was the bathroom, although a couple of things looked as if they had been rushed to get finished. The balcony was also nice and big and faced the pool. The only real suggestion for the room would be to put an extractor in the bathroom - in time, I can see that becoming a problem. The service was good although it is clearly that they are still learning the ropes as a business. Everyone was extremely friendly, from reception to cleaning staff, although there was a slight lack of consistency with regards to when the rooms would be cleaned or if someone would come around in the evening to light the mosquito lamp. We also felt that we would have liked a little more information at check-in as there was nothing in the room and we were left wondering about whether there were actually bikes to use, what services were provided/available, what we would need to do about departure etc. A printed sheet did appear after a couple of days but contained very little information. I suggest management look into providing an information pack about the resort and local amenities. I will review the restaurant separately as don't feel it fair to downgrade the whole hotel based on this, but it was a slight negative. Although perfectly adequate, and at a relatively low price, it was not very refined or of great quality. The breakfast was adequate (buffet selection of somewhat tired looking local dishes, bacon, sliced bread/baguette and fruits; egg station and noodles), it wasn't of the standard of the rest of the resort and after a couple of days we were a little tired of it. All in all, very pleased we chose to stay at the Kingo and in in Ong Lang area. I am sure that the resort will go from strength to strength and fort the current price,...
Read moreThis is our favourite resort! It’s our second time staying here and we are even more in love with it the staff than the first time! Kai and Diem are amazing receptionists and we consider them friends! Bao, senior server and the breakfast staff Minh and Nuong are always ready to help and waiting with smiles as are all the breakfast staff, sorry I don’t know all of their names. I got bad food poisoning in Hanoi and was very sick the first night we arrived but the staff was very helpful and concerned and helped us through it. They are all very genuine and special people. The resort is spotless and all the rooms are spotless. The cleaning ladies are the sweetest!! The grounds and pool are maintained all day everyday. The beds and bedding are super comfy. The air con is cold and the shower has good water pressure and is hot. Breakfast is super! So many options and all delicious. The most amazing baguette I’ve had in Vietnam and I am still dreaming about it! Many choices of Vietnamese, western and Asian foods. Good coffee and excellent fruit selection. You can rent motorbikes at the resort. There are many options of food close to the resort. There is really nothing I can say negative about Kingo Resort Retreat, I would like to keep the resort all to myself but the secret is out because it really is very good and very booked up especially during the holidays. Really a fantastic intimate resort. Quiet and private away from the busy city of Phu Quoc. We will be back, that is for...
Read moreWe had such an amazing time at this resort! It’s beautiful, quiet, and the most lovely staff ever! You do need to rent a motorbike( they have them) because it’s about 15 minutes from the town …but that’s what we wanted. They have reliable motorbikes for a fair price. The breakfast buffet is fantastic and the girls serving -Sherri and Nướng and the lady who makes omelettes ( i forgot her name) are super sweet and many spoke very good English. We had a dinner one night at the restaurant and Bao is an excellent server and great person to chat with. The food is nice. Our front desk staff always kind and attentive to anything we needed or asked for, especially Điểm who speaks excellent English and is also very sweet. The ladies who clean the rooms are always smiling and saying hello. All the staff are very hard workers and are happy to make your stay top notch! The rooms are very clean and everything looks like the photos not run down. Rooms and towels changed everyday and we stayed for 2 weeks. Beds are comfortable and easy Netflix sign in if you need it. The pina coladas were fantastic! As was the pool that was cleaned everyday. Overall we had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend this resort!! Thank you to all the staff at Kingo Retreat and Resort for making our stay wonderful. It really...
