Location We chose this resort due to its location, i.e. Phu Quoc center. The location made it convenient to come and go from the resort with many nearby seafood restaurants, convenience stores and walking distance to the night market and some nighttime 'sunset bars' including the Sunset Beach Bar that has a 10pm fire show.
The Beach. Due to its city location, I was worried the beach would not be good or clean. I was pleasantly surprised that I only saw one piece of plastic on the beach in 5 days. The sand was clean, the water clean, no hidden rocks in the water (just a pebble here and there). The palm trees and beach umbrellas offer sunny or shady positioning and the attendants will move loungers to suit the needs of the guests.
The Room- Beach Front with Private Pool The room was a good size with sofa, working desk, mini-bar, comfortable firm bed (not too soft, not too hard), very large bathroom with 2 x basins and bathtub with separate toilet and shower. The furnishing style of the room is a bit eclectic, because they have renovated and added new furniture with the old furniture. So it's an interesting mix of old and new. Some would say mix and match, but I thought it was quite charming. It was very clean and included evening turn down service. I am happy that we booked the pool villa as having the option of being able to easily go back and forth between our pool and the beach (3 meters) made it a very special experience. My main suggestion to improve the room would be to add a suitcase rack to put the suitcase open and easily accessible. I made one myself using a chair and one of the 3 x coffee tables but I think they could easily make one in the room permanently.
The Main Pool. It was clean and well maintained but in fact the beach area is so nice that it is the first choice for most guests at the resort. For example at Sol Melia the beach is so-so and the pool is amazing. At L'Azure it is the opposite. The beach is beautiful and the main pool is so-so. The pool has a swim up bar but it was never open. On the contrary, at sunset time at L'Azure. all the guests were at the beach ordering cocktails and enjoying the beautiful sunset views.
The staff and the service. Service is a big strong point at the resort. From the moment we arrived I felt the service was very personalized and continued for the entire stay. I have the feeling that staff at this resort are very well experienced in dealing with foreign guests. In fact 95% of the guests that were there during our stay were Europeans. English was well spoken by all the staff that we encountered.
The Food Breakfast was a buffet in the main restaurant. It was never full or overcrowded and has plenty of choices for Asian and European tastes. My friend, that often complains about egg stations at other resorts was impressed that the egg station was able to cook well done over-easy fried eggs. Lunch - Our package included a set menu lunch. We chose the Vietnamese lunch which included beef salad, spinach and pork soup, rice, mackerel fish, morning glory, some spicy chicken and one other dish that I forget and well as a fruit plate. This set-menu was surprisingly good and again, my Vietnamese friend that often complains about the food at other resorts complimented it. Dinner We did not eat dinner there as we wanted to try the nearby local places including the famous Tám Nắng seafood BBQ restaurant which is now located just across the road from the resort.
Room Service / Beach Menu Offers reasonably priced western and Asian choices. Cocktails on the beach at sunset was a highlight.
Final Thoughts. There is no doubt that this place is older in comparison with the newer resorts on Phu Quoc and is from a bygone era when tourism on Phu Quoc was in its beginnings. Perhaps it was one of the first ever resorts on Phu Quoc. Personally, I found its age and 'history' to be charming and well established. With age comes experience and L'Azure is very well managed with experienced, caring and attentive staff. I give it 9/10 and will stay there again next time I...
Read moreI had a wonderful 3 night stay at L'azure resort in April 2022. Here is why I rated it 5 stars. Staff: 5 stars All staff that I have interacted with were very nice, polite and helpful. Upon checking in, Nha, a receptionists, has suggested me to relax and had lunch at the restaurant next to the lobby building while waiting for my room to be ready. Although the restaurant is a building right to the lobby, Nha still walked me to the restaurant and informed the staff there to take care of me. Nha also took information of my return flight and scheduled a free shuttle drive to the airport for me. The resort has about 10 units and few beach front villas. Each unit has 4 rooms, 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. There was no elevator in each unit building so when my room was ready, Khoa, the bellboy rolled my bag from lobby to the room. Then he removed his shoes and asked for a permission to enter the room to show me how to use all the light switches. On the day I checked out, another bellboy (Nam) showed up 10 minutes before my scheduled drive and helped me with the luggage to the lobby. Both Khoa and Nam were very sweet and polite. One morning, when I just stepped down to the beach (in the back of the resort), a lifeguard named Khoul came out and put a long beach towel on my lounge chair and rolled another towel to make me a pillow for me. We had a nice chat. Room and facilities around: 5 stars My room had 2 twin beds with garden view. The room was big and very clean. There were free coffee and 2 bottles of water in the room. Water and coffee could be refilled at anytime day or night. There were also 2 nice bathrobes and 2 palm-leaf conical hat (Non La') in the room. Slippers and amenity kit were also provided. Each room in the resort had a tall wooden rack on the balcony for guests to hang wet clothes. One minus point from the room was lack of hooks/racks to hang towel for reusing them. There was a tinny set of 4 hooks in the shower that hardly held a bath towel and only a short bar rack on the back of the toilet glass door. The resort has one big swimming pool connected with 2 jacuzzi. I did not use the pool but I saw staff cleaning it everyday. There was one small gym with a treadmill, elliptical machines, few benches and dumbbells. The gym had AC but guests needed to turn it on when using the gym. The resort ground was covered with many green trees and bushes so be aware of mosquitos around. The beach in the back of the resort was very clean and water was warm and calm. During the day, I had the whole beach by myself since the local tourists only came to the beach either early in the morning or late afternoon when the sun was down. Breakfast buffet was served from 6:30AM - 10AM. There was a good selection of choices from Western to Asian dishes. I found it liked a brunch more than a breakfast since they served the whole deep fried fish, spaghetti, pasta, dimsum etc.. next to salad, fruits, breads, etc...Personally, I liked their Vietnamese and dimsum dishes than the Western ones. Location: 5 stars The resort is on a big street with many restaurants, coffee shops and massage parlors around. Everything is walking distance, very convenient and safe at night. From the resort, you can walk about 7 minutes to the night market. If you take taxi or Grab car from the airport to the resort, don't go with the address on Google, since the area was mixed between old and new addresses, very confusing. Just tell the driver that the resort is right at the Tran Hung Dao gate. All drivers will know it right away. Note, the resort did offer me a free ride from the airport to the resort but since I came from another hotel in town so I did not use this pick up. I only used the free drive from the resort to the airport. I had an amazing 3 night stay at L'azure resort. I would stay here longer if I had known how wonderful the staff and the place were in advance. If I definitely recommend...
Read moreThis was my family’s second stay at this hotel because we were impressed with the service last time. Overall, everything was still fine: the room was clean and well-maintained, the staff were friendly, and the food was quite good. However, this time, my experience was not as pleasant due to a small issue that revealed the hotel’s lack of flexibility and professionalism.|I urgently needed to print some important documents for work. Before asking the hotel, I had already checked the surrounding area but couldn’t find any place that offered printing services. When I asked the reception, they initially agreed to help and requested that I send the file via email. However, after receiving the file, they hesitated, complained that the document was too long, and didn’t want to print it. Even though I explained that it was only about 10-15 pages both side and that I was willing to pay, they still refused, saying “they didn’t know how to charge for it and that the hotel didn’t allow too many pages to be printed.”|What’s frustrating is that during my previous stay, I was with a foreign friend who also asked the reception to print some documents. I don’t remember how many pages it was, but the staff gladly helped without hesitation. This time, however, since I am Vietnamese, they just told me to go find a printing shop on my own, without offering any real support. In the end, I had to rent a motorbike and drive around nearly 30 MINS just to find a place to print … exactly 15 pages!|Good hotel service isn’t just about clean rooms, friendly staff, or decent food—it’s also about flexibility and supporting guests when they need help. If a hotel can’t even assist with something as simple as printing a few pages, then it’s certainly not worth the money. Although I really like this hotel and have also recommended it to many friends when visiting Phu Quoc. However, this will be the last time I stay at this hotel when...
