Quiet unassuming banh mi stall on the side of the road.
We ate here 3 times due to it being very close to our hotel.
The first day, the food was amazing and we had smoothies to wash it down with, which were delicious. My girlfriend asked for a chicken and egg banh mi and she decided to charge us 40k for this one (double the cost of a normal banh mi) and we let it slide.
The next day we went back, she thought I wanted the same again, but I specifically asked her for one chicken and one meat banh mi (using Google translate) - she then proceeded to charge me 60k for 2 banh mis! I stuck to my guns and explained to her that her prices said 20k/sandwich, so that's all I was going to pay and she accepted this. She also shortchanged me by 100k (as I only had 500k on me at the time), luckily I realised and got my correct change.
Seeing the other comments that she will try to overcharge you albeit by 10-20k, I experienced this first hand. I appreciate she has to make a living, but don't try to sneakily overcharge people.
We went back for a third time as we were starving, but also to see if she would try to overcharge us again... And low and behold, she tried to overcharge me by an extra 10k for absolutely no reason.
The Banh mis are tasty, but inconsistent. The smoothies are great. The service is friendly, but she definitely plays on foreigners being naive and seeing how much she can get away with in terms of charging more money than advertised.
Would recommend this place for food n drink, but just check the price and your change and question any discrepancies and she won't give...
Read moreWent to Tram Tram bánh mì stand twice as it was close to where we were staying. Her bánh mì cart clearly showed price was 20,000 VND for a bread roll so I ordered 2 rolls and asked her to leave out a few of the ingredients as my kids can’t eat it - I did not ask her to put anything else extra. When it was time to pay, she told she is charging me 25,000VND per roll because she put in more meat. First of all, I saw her make it and she didn’t put in extra meat especially as I didn’t ask for it either. Anyway, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and paid without questioning her. Next day, my husband went to get the same 2 bread rolls for my kids and she ended putting chilli in the rolls despite my husband’s request not to have chilli. This time she charged him 30,000VND per roll. I appreciate everyone needs to make a living but when you advertise your price on the cart and then choose to scam people and charge whatever you want - that is not right. It’s not about the money as we usually tip the vendors and taxi drivers anyway, but it’s more about the principle. Be sure to ask for the price first and don’t assume even though the price is written in the cart! The bánh mì is ok but nothing special either - we’ve had much better bánh mì from nice honest vendors. As previous reviewers have mentioned, hygiene could also improved but kind of expected for side street cart vendors so I won’t hold it...
Read moreThe coffee in the photo was as served. It came half full I had to do a double take - rub ma eyes - and double check with the lady that it is indeed supposed to come out like that (half full). I recommend to change the cup so that it doesn’t look like a half-drank cup of coffee.
The banhmi bread wasn’t crispy but the pork inside was soft. I added an egg so it was 40k for a pork banhmi plus egg. Flavour wise was ok but not amazing. The sauce is spicy so if you don’t take spicy do let...
