Booked and paid in full via CC on Agoda for 3 nights (23-26Dec) for a family room (36 USD/night) at Nhat Lan resort and it's totally disappointed. Rate is over-priced for a basic room with almost nothing works, management doesn't exist and EVERY staff will try to rip you off whenever they have chance. After checking in, receptionist gave us 6 breakfast coupons for 3 nights. Later I found it's clearly mentioned on my booking that booking is for 4 guesses, breakfast included, so I came back to complain. The other receptionist said it's a mistake and gave us 6 more coupons. I asked her if I could rent a bike and she said 200K VND/day. I did not take it right away because kids want to swim for a while. When we went back, the other receptionist said the bike is 150K VND/day. We found the bungalow near the beach is nice and the receptionist said if we pay 200K VND/night on top of price I paid to Agoda, we can move to that specific bungalow. I agreed and asked her keep that bungalow for us from the 2nd night, only to find out the next morning that they sold it to another guess and offer us another bungalow which is not so nice because it's deeper from the beach. We took the offer anyway, but nothing works in this room: the towel rack is falling from the wall, bathroom tile is broken, and most important is the air-con doesn't work. After several attempts to repair but not successful, they offered us to change to another bungalow which is even more deeper from the beach. We didn't like it but we're tired of being turned around so we just took it. TV in this room didn't work, but it's OK to me as I don't want the kids watch TV too much. Same as the other rooms we have been, there is no hot water in this room. In Vietnam, when you pay a million VND per night for a room, you expect more than that. Even though we're kind of forced to take this room which is not what we wanted at first place, no discount event I asked for when checking out. The answer is simple: I don't know. And the service at restaurant is absolutely rip off. The first morning, we went to breakfast, the waiter did not give us menu but said there are only 3 choices: instant noodle, hu tieu and bread with fried eggs. We took our breakfast, then ordered 2 coffees and an orange juice and he charged us 160K VND for drinks. The next day, another waiter served us with menu which have more choices, and DRINK IS INCLUDED. The las morning, the waiter who charged us for drinks served us again, and I gently told him that I paid for drinks by "my mistake" and I want my money back. I tried to be nice and did not want to make him ashamed, but I am wrong because not only he did not feel ashamed, but he continued to cheat me by giving me back only 35K VND saying that I have to pay for the tea on that day breakfast. At this time, I'm totally fed up, don't want to do anything with him and just want to leave this dirty place. And yes, it's also literally dirty place. The beach is full of trash, water is milky and my kid get itchy swimming in that water. Oh, mine! I am an easy going guy and have never written such a long complain, but I really had bad experience...
Read moreI had beachfront bungalow, just about 20m from sea. The view was beautiful and sounds of the waves was relaxing. I didn't noticed any mosquitos, maybe because there was always little wind from the sea. Good beach if you like snorkeling. There are some larger rocks(at the front and to the south) where there are actually some smaller fishes to see. Staff were really friendly. Restaurant was ok. You can rent motorbike(that one was some older model but ok) from the hotel. The place was quite empty when I stayed there, only few rooms occupied, so very peaceful. I reserved room at first for three days and then three more days(one day it was fully booked for some school party event, but staff organized so that I could stay in the same room). At least in low season, room price was low. Really good value for the money.
It is older hotel so there are some issues. I broke my bed by just sitting on it, but they fixed it(apparently it has been broken many times). The mattress was really hard, but they did provide extra mattress, which was not quite wide as the bed, but then it was ok to sleep. Closet doors and drawers are rattling. No hot water, but the normal one is not too cold. Room key is needed for electricity, which means that also fridge will be turned off while you are away. Wifi didn't always work. No safe in the room(I think they said that they can provide one if I need), but nothing was stolen.
Despite the issues, I would definitely stay again. Having room with that close to the sea and the...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are good resorts all around this dodgy and old one.
I stayed for 2 nights in this shabby old resort with broken and old furniture and poorly cleaned rooms. Hard beds, broken toilet bowls. Hot water becomes a little warm after 2-3 minutes of running. Stuff works horribly. You have to beg for every simpliest thing like a roll of toilet paper (which there was only one per family bungalow). They even did not empty the thrash bin as part of daily cleaning.
On top of everything, the cleaning stuff have stolen 500K dongs note (22$) from my wallet which I thoughtlessly left in the room (I record all my expenses in foreign currency while travelling so I know precisely how much should have been there). This happened to me for the first time for many years of...
