This was our first time staying in a holiday park cabin in Australia so we did not know what to expect, and we stayed for 3 nights in one of the newer superior 2BR cabins
Pleasantly surprised with how spacious, well-lit, well-equipped, well maintained and spotlessly clean it was. The real feel temperature and wind chill around the east coast of Tasmania is surprisingly bone-chilling in winter, but the powerful heater system in the living area, plenty of hot water in the showers, additional infrared heaters in the bathroom and electric blankets kept us toasty warm. Shower pressure and hair dryer power was also excellent. Extremely convenient location right smack in the very centre of town which is definitely where you want to be, especially since the area in general is very dark and quiet at night, even more so once you leave the town centre of Bicheno. Short walking distance to the beach (the nearby Bicheno Blowhole which is spectacular!), an extensive range of food options and the evening penguin tours right next door.
Loved additional touches like the seating area and the contrasting yellow flowers on the front porch set against the blue cabin which really brightened up our day. Overall it was a memorable & enjoyable stay, good value for money and Bicheno East Coast Holiday Park would definitely be our first choice should our travel plans bring us back to the area. Would wholeheartedly recommend this...
Read moreStayed one night, $38/night two people campervan. Very friendly owner/manager at reception. Laundry facilities were nice and clean, $4/wash or dry. You pay a refundable $20 gate card fee. The camp kitchen is combined with a game room and has a large BBQ area outside. Disappointed in the kitchen, there was a couple of microwaves, 3 electric cook plates, one which didn't work at all and another was inconsistent so hard to cook on. No pots, pans, plates, etc. so bring your own. The shower temperature was inconsistent. We didn't get to enjoy the area as there was a group of 20+ teenage girls running rampart through the park with no supervision. Myself and another couple were trying to use the kitchen and had to yell over the squeals, scream and music blaring to ask them to tone it down, twice. Another couple with younger kids left after 5 minutes, while another couple walked in and walked out. We were in the kitchen for about an hour and not once did an adult come in to check or control the kids. The ladies washroom was also a disaster thanks to having the large group going through. I understand not the sites fault, or the girls really. Get a group together and they are going to get over excited, this is fully on the lack of supervision from the adults responsible for the group. I would of spoken to them, but never saw one...
Read moreNo other accommodation available in all of Bicheno so we grabbed the last cabin at this caravan park. We stayed in the budget cabin and although there were only two of us, this cabin slept four. It was very dated and a bit sad. In saying that, the cabin was clean and quite large in the main area. Bathroom was small and old but functional and water was hot. When you turned the light on the fan made a dreadful noise. Kitchen was adequate and had all you needed. Bed was comfortable. Sofa was a bit low but would be no problem for younger people. I was a bit worried when I discovered the window didn’t lock, or at least I couldn’t lock it and the lock on the main door was a bit loose. Parking is right outside the cabin undercover. Everything is within walking distance which is great. Only downside is the WIFI. Virtually non existent. We thought we could connect but it was literally only for a second and then dropped out altogether. It really was a nuisance. Not sure if it was the general area or the park’s WIFI system. I could connect to my own data plan thank goodness. If it was just the park’s system they need to do something about it. In this day and age it is a requirement. All in all, the budget cabins are adequate, reasonably priced and the park is very...
