Have been patronising this outlet for the past 10 years. In general reason why I keep coming back is because they have what I need for Asian cooking and other stuffs like Mooncake, Chinese New Year goodies etc etc. They also carry stocks and stuffs I can't find in other Asian marts.
The seafood section smell very bad and was wet and slippery before the renovation. Staffs were rude and service was real bad then. Was very reluctant to step in each time I go. After the renovation, I thought things would have improved, however the bad smell still about the same, just slightly better than before. I think is their ventilation system that badly needs to be improved. Staff service really depends on the person working on the day. So far I got served by one friendly guy who never fails to smile and say thank you. The other few are rather unfriendly who simply refused to smile but serving customers with stone expression and cold tone. Not very welcoming sight.
There's one old Chinese cashier lady who has been working there very long used to be very very rude but now is okay when serving customers, not so rude like before.
Overall this place is still worth patronising. Hope the management will seriously consider on improving the ventilation system in their seafood section, I would definitely go there at least once a week to...

Tl;dr - Yuen's Market in Sunnybank have been LYING about the weight of their items. Their manager's attitude was very BAD.
On Friday August 14th, we bought 2 durians from Yuen's market. We randomly checked their weight, and found that the real weight of the two durians was short by 1.70kg. After reporting this with their manager Peter, his attitude was very bad and his explanation was unreasonable. He NEVER apologised and he said that it's not his fault because the weight shortage was a very COMMON occurrence in the shop. He even wanted to DESTROY evidence by scrunching up my invoice. He continued to ignore me when I wanted to solve this problem. His whole attitude was extremely rude and arrogant.
We have been buying durians from Yuen's market over many years. This is the first time we weighed the durians by ourselves, and to our surprise there was such a big weight shortage. They could have potentially scammed us this whole time without us knowing. (You can also tell by their manager's attitude that they have knowingly done this before) Over the years, I really donât know how many consumers have been harmed by this dishonest store. I hope everyone will try not to go to Yuen's market to avoid being scammed. You can see the attached invoice and photos as proof.

Read moreI have been shopping at Yuen's Market at Sunnybank Market Square for years now and have not had a problem until now. Today I experienced the worst customer service ever. The cashier could not scan a barcode from a can of drink and asked the other cashiers how much it was. She then put it through as $1.39. I told her all that range of drinks said 99c on the shelf. She argued with me and said it can never be 99 cents. I went back to have a look properly and I WAS right. I confronted her again and told her to come with me. She continued arguing but came along to have a look. She saw the price but tried getting away with it saying it has a different barcode. THE INFORMATION ON THE SHELF WAS CORRECT AS THE OTHER FLAVOURS WERE ALL THE SAME PRICE. I told her that if the price was incorrect then they should remove the price immediately but she DID NOT and just slipped the price back in. The cashier lady was RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, and did not bother listen other than just argue. I will be going elsewhere for my asian grocery now. BEWARE, THEY WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CAN TO RIP YOU OFF EVEN FOR A...
