My experience here is mixed. It was definitely a fun place to look around and it’s in a good location.
The prices here are very high, I get to quite a few vintage markets as there are a lot of them around Victoria, and this is probably the most expensive I’ve been to.
They are definitely geared more towards clothing at this market and since my main flavour is homewares, I can’t speak for the clothing prices.
My review probably would have been 3 or 4 stars, but I was extremely disappointed and disheartened to hear a group of older staff members right behind the front counter sitting and talking about other staff who weren’t there in the most horrible way. They were actually speaking rubbish and were literally letting customers just stand there waiting to be served by the one nice girl who was serving.
It was actually really unpleasant to hear a middle aged woman and a group of 30 something women talk about other staff members like that. I nearly said something but I didn’t and I kinda feel sorry for people that are that petty.
The actual front of counter staff girl who were serving were actually very nice and I saw on 2 occasions these older staff members (a Middle Aged lady in yellow top who definitely had some sort of problem in her life because she was really unfriendly) being quite rude to them which I thought was unnecessary and petty.
It looks like there’s a serious culture problem here and for that reason I won’t be returning or recommending this place as I don’t want to support workplace harassment and systematic bullying in...
Read moreI love this place so much and have bought numerous items when I lived in Melbourne a few years back. The staff are helpful too. Today I had a terrible experience with a European lady in her 30s/40s short hair. I asked about the top floor as it was closed and I wanted to return when it is open. I just asked her what kind of furniture they sell and how large the room was in relation to the room we were in. I was met with deliberately evasive answers like I don't know. You will have to come back. I don't know the square meter age. She repeated this a few times. I I intend to buy a lot of furniture as I am in an unfurnished appt. I wasn't asking difficult questions, only because I live quite far and wanted to know if it was worth my while. She seemed to take a lot of pride in giving me those answers. So i asked a young man who was her colleague who did answer my 3 questions politely. . When i left i turned around and noticed thst she was laughing at me with her colleague's? Not sure why there was unkindnesd.. Maybe it's because I am not white? I was very polite. I felt pretty humiliated.
I would come back in a heartbeat and spend around 3K but not now. All you need is to treat people with respect. If any one who sells furniture upstairs would like to contact me I would be really interested but not sure I want to return.
I had the opposite experience at Retropolis in Preston and Waverley Bazaar earlier today. Very warm...
Read moreLost and found market is heaven on earth for lovers of fashion, art, interior and music! it has got something for everybody and you need to dedicate at least an hour to fully explore this place that feels like a massive studio. this store genuinely has everything - clothes are literally organised by aesthetic for the kitschy, kooky, romantics, deco, vintage and high fashion. i found this place by accident but i genuinely had a hard time leaving! Vintage sewing patterns marked this place as the BEST thrift / vintage store I've ever visited! Prices were reasonable depending on what you were getting. People complaining about prices don't really understand the demand and supply for 'vintage' pieces and also pieces you can NO LONGER purchase or aren't manufactured anymore... people are comparing prices of this place to their local Salvos or Vinnies. This is NOT a cheap store for $15 jeans, you will come across $250 jackets because that's how much people are willing to pay for it. This place is unmissable for anybody with the slightest interest in vintage and deco, I...
