This truly is a church of miracles. Earlier this year I was recovering from stage 4 cancer surgery/radiation and was suffering terribly with fibromyalgia. On the way to the GP one day to get more pain meds I met a taxi driver. This taxi driver was a muslim, and he told me I just had to visit this church in North Sydney called the Mary MacKillop church. He said I just have to sit in there and feel the peaceful feeling. He said this is where Australia's first saint is buried and that I just had to visit this church. I found it completely strange a muslim would send me to church and not a mosque. But there you go. A few days later, mum and I visited this church and he was right. I felt this beautiful peaceful feeling come down on me from above, just when I was sitting next to St Mary of the cross' crypt. The next morning, I felt no pain whatsoever, and didn't even feel like taking the pain killers. No withdrawals from a 500mg/day opiate regime! Over the next 9 days I lost 12 kilos. A few months later, and now I go back to mass/confession regularly, pray daily and read the bible every day. The doctors are amazed at how my pain was healed in an instant, for what was to be a lifelong condition of misery. For me personally, someone who didn't go to confession for 20 years and only occasionally went to mass, well the most amazing part for me is finding out God is real and that He loves us all. Amazing huh! A photo below of the day I went there. Thanks be to God, and thank you to the muslim taxi driver who sent me there :)

A lovely chapel. The St Mary Mackillop Chapel is a small yet quiet and peaceful place to pray. The chapel is very well maintained. There are beautiful glass paintings and wooden stations of the cross. The chapel provide guidance book for the stations if anyone is interested to do so 👍 I recommend this for pilgrimage. St Mary Mackillop is the first saint from Australia and her body is buried inside the chapel. Extra: there is a cafe along with gift store (beside the chapel) and a small garden (behind).

Visiting the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel with my family was a profoundly moving spiritual experience. As we prayed before the tomb of St Mary MacKillop, we felt surrounded by peace, grace, and a deep sense of connection to her legacy of faith and service. The sacred atmosphere invited reflection and gratitude, and we left uplifted, carrying spiritual blessings in our hearts. A truly beautiful moment of grace shared as a family.

I visited Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel on her feast day, 8 August, 2025. Many pilgrims, festive but reverent atmosphere. The Chapel is serene, blessed with resting place of our first national saint, St Mary of the Cross. You can visit her tomb with others, & make your petitions to this wonderful saint. The MacKillop museum is next door & tells the story of her life & the founding of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart ❤️‍🔥. There's always a celebration of this saint on her feast every year - 8 August, with Masses offered & Mackillop memorabilia, & devotionals on sale. Above all, though, the place is permeated with this saint's particular charism, which is hospitality, compassion & the Sacred. 'Never see a need without doing something about it. ' St...
