The Nostalgia Box Museum — Local services in West Perth

We found the Nostalgia Box through Trip Advisor under things to do in Perth, Australia. Very easy to find, as we were staying in Fremantle. We caught the train from Fremantle to City West train station and walked about 2 to 3 minutes to the venue. The Nostalgia Box was easily accessible from the street. I use a wheelchair and the venue has a wheelchair lift which upon arrival the venue owner greeted us and organised the lift for me to use. Once inside we paid our admission and moved around the museum part of the venue. It was amazing the huge collection of games and consoles including the history from the early 70’s all the way through to the current gaming consoles. All the displays had QR codes to access information about the specific console and the history; in addition to the information sheet near each console. Also, above the QR codes, there was Brail attached to the display cabinets for visual impaired visitors to use. We spent several hours playing in the arcade area where there was a wide variety of consoles setup to play and arcade cabinets all included in the admission price. The venue owner just let us know that if there was any game specifically that we wanted to play, he would organise it and set it up for our use. They had a huge catalogue to choose from across various different consoles and handhelds; you just have to ask and he was only to happy to change a game for you. My husband played the Galaga arcade cabinet and got put on the leader’s board and had a photo with his achievement. He was stoked to be added to the top 8 scores on the arcade machine. The Nostalgia Box can be as long or as short a visit as you wish. The owner said that our admission was for the whole day and that we could go and come back whenever we wanted too. We thought this was great value for $16.50 as we were concession card holders. So overall, fantastic value for money, suitable for all ages: children through to adults and very assessable for a visitor whom requires accessibility. It was a wonderful trip down memory lane with the museum and to be able to enjoy various consoles from yester years. Unplanned most favorite stop while I’m Perth! We visited Perth during the summer and knew it would be hot but we didn’t plan enough balance of inside and outside activities so on day 1 the kids were dying from the heat so we tried to find a good museum to take them to and this popped up. It took a little convincing to get them to agree to go but once we arrived it was all up hill from there! What a cool little place! We didn’t make a reservation and were lucky when we arrived that a school holiday event/booking was just leaving. The place isn’t very big but it’s jam packed with all the old video games from our great childhood and old TV’s to go with it!! It was such a trip back in time that we didn’t know how to begin and then didn’t know how to end! One amazingly great addition to this great great place is that your entry fee (very cheap) allows you to play all the games for the full day!!! You can come & go all day which is unheard of! So if you really want to try and break that old Atari record you can start your challenge in the morning break for lunch & let your fingers rest then come back again to finish off the day! They even have a snack bar (chips & drinks & candy bars) if you don’t want to leave. You will be very surprised as the condition of the games too…you can see some wear but really they are in good condition. Also, if you don’t see a game you are looking for just ask the owner and most likely he has it hidden away. And speaking of owner…if I could give a rating he would be a 10! Super friendly, super happy and amazing shop! We are only visiting but we saw the signage for byob trivia nights, birthday parties and other events that make this not only a great tourist destination but a great regular place to visit if you live in Perth. I went to the Maid with Love Cafe event collab with Nostalgia Box. The owner Dave even catered the high tea to be dairy free for me with loads of options and plenty to take home. He went the extra mile and researched that he could provide me with an amazing high tea experience before he let me buy my ticket. There was tea, apple juice, water also offered. The collaboration ran from 10 am until around 11:30 am, but everyone was free to stay and play games, socialize, and hang out.

Dave, even set some food aside for my friend who was going to be late to the event due to work. He is definitely an accommodating person. Between this kindness and even taking time to research to supply dairy free for me. He even dressed up as a butler for the event. Dave was such a great person and made the event very welcoming. He has gone way above and beyond! I’m so happy that I got to take part at this event.

Most of the attendees stayed around to hang out, make friends, socialize, and play games. We ended up staying a couple hours after the event because the vibes were just so fun and relaxing.

Nostalgia Box has a video game museum, and even old school consoles for you to try out and play. Definitely a place where everyone can find something fun to play. Friendly...
