Haven't been here for 2 years. It's not very busy this Sunday morning. It's still very noisy. Service: average. Wait to be seated. A jar of water, menu and utensils were provided soon. Order and pay at the front desk. F&B served fast. --- 7/10 F&B: wode selections of beverages. Asian fusion food. Normal presentation. Acceptable prices. Black Sesame Latte, $4.7: very rich flavor of black sesame. Iced Latte, $5.5 Tonkotsu Congee, AU$26: ajitama egg was spot on. Mor mustard greens and burnt garlic oil than 3 year ago. Pork neck chasau (2pcs) was ok. --- 7/10 Bang Bang Chicken, AU$25: chicken breast with grilled skin. Meat was succulent. Slight spicy. There are red onions, leafy greens, cucumber, capsicum, and pepitas with miso dressing. But there is no cashew mentioned on the menu. --- 7.7/10 ‐-------‐------‐-------- 2021- 3.5 stars Superbusy on Saturday morning. Some people were waiting outside when we came at 11am. Have to wait to be seated --- just 15-20minutes. Too lousy indoor. Unable to listen and talk with friends. Staff team work was efficient. They moved fast. A waitress instructed how to order and then gave us a bucket of utensils. A waiter gave us a bottle of water. Staff's attitude was ok. Waiting time for food was reasonable. ---- 7.2/10 Iced Latte was average. Fresh Cold Pressed Juice (Green apple & Pineapple) was ok. Food presentation was very good. Unique combination of elements, texture and taste. A lot of asian elements. Slight pricey. Portion wise. Tonkotsu Congee, AU$19: ajitama egg was spot on. Mustard greens and burnt garlic oil give the saltines. Pork neck chasau (2pcs) was a bit dry to me. --- 7/10 Bang Bang Chicken, AU$21: it says grilled chicken breast, but it's likely sous vides first. The texture of chicken was so impressed me. It was so succulent and glossy. Capsicum, cauliflower, cucumber and coriander in Bang Bang dressing was loving. Crunchy and...
Read moreForklore has some really innovative items for take out, which is why I wanted to visit.
I got the pandan and coconut donut, the pandan creme brulee pastry and the tamago danish. Overall they were enjoyable, but the item that I was most looking forward to trying, which was the tamago pastry, wasn't all I hoped and dreamed of. I guess that's why they say never meet your heroes.
The pandan and coconut donut was divine - the cakey batter fried to perfection, soft in the middle and caramelised at the edges. My only issue is that I find pandan to be a confusing flavour in that it's not super distinguishable from the other flavours that it's usually paired with and may be lost due to being too subtle. Here the donut just tasted like a vaguely coconutty, vanilla-y donut that happened to be glazed green.
The pandan brulee donut suffered from the same vague flabour profile and I didn't enjoy the texture of the pastry, which was quite dry, but the creme brulee part was lovely, the bitterness of the charred sugar providing a pleasing contrast to the unctuous green custard beneath.
Now, the tamago danish... this was a buttery pastry filled with a square of Japanese omelette, crunchy tobiko, and a lot of japanese mayonnaise. I am a fan of all of those things but somehow it just felt a bit one note because of how much mayonnaise was in there, and I was struggling to understand how so much could be charged for pastry, egg and mayonnaise, but I guess the joke's on me. It became quite sickly and boring to eat...
Read moreCame Monday afternoon. Bit busy. When we arrived, we have been told sit on a table, waitress just told me the number but no one guild us and gave any menu. When we sat, down, the waitress just told us scan the QR code and order online. That’s been really rude to us. As this place bit over price, should provided more customer services not stupid order online system.
I went to counter asked for a menu, the barista said to me wait for a second then 2 minutes passed, I stood on the same place and no one asked if I neeed helps or not.
I finally found a free menu in front of counter that looks stupid old and like a piece of trash.
I choose order online, some main dishes and That includes a piece of sweet. I choose “toasted” . No one come asked us if we need sweet later or main first. Few minutes later, a waitress gave me a Macha latte (hot) which I don’t order, she insisted I did order it. I told her I only ordered cold drink, she send back and bring to other table later. Then my sweet comes first she EDUCATEd me that this kind sweet can not toasted. I told her that the system can let me choose warm, not toasted or toasted.
I ordered 2 cold drink both required honey on side but I only received 1 honey.
Food was amazing but udon are so small portion. No one warm welcome you and give ya any recommendations. Don’t care customer too much. Pretty cold shoulder.
Overall, even food so good but the service of here will let me step back and will not back...
