I stayed here a while back but did not do a review of the place as I have been busy. But I feel so strongly about how dirty and disgusting this place is that I have to right a review after so long! ||||Upon coming here the staff were very rude and unwelcoming (both Asian one girl and a guy). ||||I was given my key and not explained anything about facilities; where the bathroom was, kitchen area, social area etc. When I asked questions they just gave me dirty looks and ignored me with yes yes answers.||||I was given my room and was on the first floor in a 10 dorm bunk room. I know hostels offer basics but this room was nasty, disgusting and smelt so terrible! There was dirty stuff all over the floor and on beds everywhere. No sheets on the bed (or given to me), only stained smelly pillows! There was brown stains all over the mattress and writing all over the walls. The room was occupied by long term stayers that had their dirty soiled stuff everywhere! All over the wall was marks and brown stains it was seriously shocking! ||||I asked for a room change and they had said they had nothing available, I get what I pay for and just ignored me and said I can talk to the owner (someone called Rambo). I asked for a refund and they said they could only give me a night free in the same dirty room! ||||I was thinking are you being for real? They were so rude, aggressive and thought that the room standard was okay. I couldn’t even comprehend what was happening, I was that shocked! ||||Anyhow I rang this guy called Rambo again and again with no answer. So I ending up staying somewhere else!||||This place is a total and utter joke! Purely disgusting with a horrid smell with brown marks all over the place, accompanied with rude and aggressive staff! ||||I warn you...do not stay here this place is disease ridden, you will catch something from...
Read moreIt was a "fairly good" 3-night stay at this big hostel with helpful staff, a spacious kitchen (with a big dining table), nice laundry machines & clean bathrooms. And for some "quick food" like cup/bowl noodles & bananas and also for toiletry items & such, there's a little convenience store (of a gas station) just a few minutes' walk to the left after coming out of the front door; or if you prefer more "dine-in" kind of meals (like in the 15-to-20-dollar range), there's also an area like a Chinatown a 5-minute-or-so walk from this place (a right turn after coming out followed by a left turn onto Roe, and it's just on the left side after about a 5-minute walk where there's like a Chinese-styled gate to go through).||||The "only downside" about this place for me is its a bit "out-of-the-way" location from the CBD especially if you come by bus from the Airport and arrive at the Elizabeth Quay bus terminal from which it's about a "whole half-hour walk" to this place (15 to 20 minutes along William St. to the corner with Wellington where you go over like an overpass with a left turn onto Roe on the other side of the overpass, then about 10 minutes along Roe St. to the corner with Fitzgerald where this place is just around the corner across the street); and it's about a 20-minute walk from this place to Hungry Jack's on William St. for a "great filling breakfast" at a reasonable price (I can't think of any other for a good breakfast closer than that to...
Read moreBasic room, but clean, comfortable, well ventilated, and quiet at night. I liked that the room I stayed in had a skylight and vents to let air and natural light in despite the lack of windows.
I would have appreciated being shown around a bit more on check in as I only realised on my last day that there was an outdoor area available, when a different staff member was showing another guest around.
The location is amazingly convenient as it's near a nice park, multiple great restaurants, as well as short walking distance from a well serviced train station, Perth Cultural centre, and the CBD. I wouldn't rate the 'free breakfast' that much as it's just tea, coffee, oats, and cornflakes, but the kitchen amenities are pretty good so I was happy to keep ingredients there and cook my own breakfasts.
Overall I would happily stay here again next time...
