The renovations are finished so they are covid compliant yaaay right when you enter the market from york st there is De La Terre bakery on your left and you have not tried sour dough bread until you have tried one of their baked fresh daily loaves of bread. I highly recommend the honey butter sourdough it just melts in your mouth it's so good i recommend getting two loaves because they will not last long they are just that good. Another solid choice is is their potato and olive oil but they have a nice selection to choose from. One more great stall is on the bottom floor down the ramp straight than on your right you can't miss the big red sign Sam's meat and cheese a huge selection of great artisanal cheeses and cold cuts , they have a huge selection of everything meat and cheese related .I highly recommend their muffuletta sandwich's honestly one of the best sandwiches you will ever try there is seriously nothing that could be done to make this sandwich any more amazing. Before i forget i got lost in thinking about all their excellent products i'am getting hungry just thinking about it. The staff is truly amazing you're never rushed they always have great recommendations and friendly conversation. Overall the market is a great place your just in awe of all the great food surrounding you and mostly all grown locally . The taste and appearance of all the local produce is so incredible you'll ask yourself why you weren't always coming to the market but words can only convey so much i highly recommend trying it for yourself all in all it's just a fun outing for the whole family(added bonus you get one free hour parking at the parking tower across from the entrance just remember to get one of your receipts validated or stamped) You'll always have a fun time shopping at the market it'll be hard to go back to the usual grocery stores when you have to most of all explore, have fun, talk to the vendors and get to know where your food comes from and by whom, everyone is very positive and laid back so have FUN try new things Cheers...

Offering a multitude of products including but not limited to: produce, meats, dairy products, poultry, cooked items including cakes, pastries, pasta etc. There's a restaurant area on lower floor towards the opposite side which seems fairly packed during lunch.
There's a lot of history in this market since it's been in the area from 1875. In the center, you'll find Birks Clock.
A common saying among Hamiltonians coming to the downtown after 1930 was "Meet me under the Birks Clock."
The Clock of the Charging Horsemen was attached to the Birks building in 1930, at the southeast corner of King and James. The impressive clock became an immediate popular landmark for Hamiltonians as well as an attraction for visitors to the city.
The massive timepiece stands 5.5 metres tall, and weighs close to 850 kgs. It is modeled in English heraldic style after a 14th century clock at Wells Cathedral, Somerset, England. The beloved Birks building sadly was demolished in 1972, despite considerable public opposition. The Clock was reinstalled at the same location on the new building constructed on the site.
In 1986, care and maintenance of the clock became the responsibility of the City of Hamilton. It was attached to a pillar at the northwest entrance to Lloyd D. Jackson Square. The Charging Horsemen mechanism later seized, the colors faded, and finally the whole apparatus stopped working, despite repeated attempts to keep it functioning.
In 2007, a decision was made to take the clock down and put it in storage until sufficient funds and a proper place to reinstall the timepiece were made available.
With the completion of the renovated Hamilton Farmers' Market in 2012, market goers were delighted to see the Birks Clock once again. The clock had been lovingly restored to its original glory, and once again, the call "Meet Me under the Birks Clock" was heard in Hamilton.
Currently celebrating 185 years. Interesting to check out. Free 1 hour parking across the plaza in the York...
