I am a 32 year old man. I would rather eat pizza and wings over anything else most days. Then I tried May's.
Back in the summer I was off work with a broken arm and my sister told me I HAD to go try this Thai Tea spot she discovered (I was not familiar with Thai Tea). So with time on my broken hands, on a whim, I decided to go check it out.
I ordered the Thai Tea, and decided to also order some Pad Thai for lunch since I was already there. What I didn't know was that I was about to have the best food I have ever had, and I mean ever. Sincerely, I had no idea Thai food could taste so good. But once you try May's specifically, the game is changed. It was super fresh and flavorful. It's the kind of hearty meal that perks you up for the entire rest of your day. I've been going back to order it every week ever since!
The rest of their menu is just as good. I like to order jars of the homemade Jeow Bong sauce, I put that on my rice and chicken to make that food a real meal. They also have a really good sundried pork dish, and sticky rice dessert.
May (the owner) is super sweet. She loves to talk with her customers and is always super cheerful and fun to speak to. She's the kind of person who will remember you by name and cares about her customers, it's very wholesome. She is very passionate about her food, and you can tell once you see quality alone.
That tea I mentioned? I could drink bathtubs full of the stuff, it is devilishly good. My favorite one is the Jasmine Green Tea. She uses a jasmine flower ingredient, it has such a soft and sweet flavor. Very refreshing.
If you enjoy good food, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Located on the lower floor of the farmer's market, it is the definition of a hidden gem. It's not just my favorite Thai Food, it's my favorite food I've ever had.
Edit
I should also mention their menu has loads of vegan options. Two of my vegan friends went there and they adored it. So if you want a vegan/vegetarian meal, May's has got...
Read moreWe had the ever so lovely May cater my sister's bridal shower this past weekend (for 20 people) and I have to say that we could not have asked for better!!! Throughout the planning process she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She devised sample menus that fit my needs (number of people, dietary restrictions, etc.), confirmed details the week of the event even when I had forgotten to reach out myself, was very punctual, and most importantly was so understanding and flexible when I had to reschedule the event due to illness. To top off the AMAZING customer service, the food was fresh, flavourful and just out of this world. She really does go above and beyond.
For those interested, we ordered the red curry, pad thai, cucumber salad, mango salad, dok jok cookies, woon kati, mango sticky rice and both the green/classic iced tea. Everything was delicious and beautiful. The red curry, mango salad/sticky rice, dok jok cookies and the classic thai iced tea were absolute hits! We can't wait until mid-October when we have May cater yet another event for us! Until then I will be enjoying the leftovers :)
P.s. if you're thinking about having her cater your next event, stop thinking, and just do it! You will...
